    M62 Cylinder head install

It is the spacer shown in the last picture Saint posted. It is the exact same on the BMW engine - that is how I sourced mine. You can look the number up of realoem.com - just pick a 2001 X5 with 4.4. I believe this is the part # 11111739185

L322 Remove cylinder head with exhaust manifold?

Leave them on - remove the two bolts that attach to the exhaust flange after the header. Have a helper as the extra weight will be felt. Install them the same way, but be alert of the coolant hoses on Bank 2 as they can get in the way. Have a helper guide the bolts into the exhaust flange or...

    L322 M62 Rebuild.

Post as many photos of the damage as you can. I am not understanding the damage and/or the cause. What kind of noise was the RR making before you popped the covers? By "piston ring" are you referencing the plastic portion of the Vanos?

L322 Fitting Reverse camera to L322 Vogue 2004

Do some searching - I have seen people install BMW handle units. Some minor modifications for fitment is required as well as the wiring. I would imagine you have to modify the harness length and connector to plug into your screen. On an OEM type install the run is short to the left side of...

Can you eject disk? Maybe try removing unit, opening it up and remove disk.

    L322 M62 Rebuild.

I bought the truck with a known timing issue, I just didn't know how bad it was. In the end I learned the prior owner ran the RR until the chain guides wore so bad it was grinding down aluminum. At the same time the plastic fragments clogged the pick up and starved the engine. Block was...

    L322 M62 Rebuild.

If it sounds like vanos noise and the vanos is a rebuild, (not OEM new) I would say it is the vanos. As the trucks work fine with the noise it is hard to rip things apart until you have a solid reason to do it. When you do please take some pictures of your rebuild and post, I would be really...

    L322 M62 Rebuild.

Ticking is usually the lifters with some crud in them. Prolonged high speed driving cleared mine. I am talking numerous 4 plus hour 100km/hr plus runs (here speed limit on some freeways is 70mph). Vanos diesel, is the Vanos and rebuilding doesn't always work. I am not a fan of the Beisan...

L322 Sat nav problems on 2004 l322 vogue

Before ordering a MK3 unit, check out replacing it with a MK4. Plenty of info on the subject. It is a straight swap that needs a software update and new DVD disks - rest is plug and play. Better, faster and stronger. You can source from BMWs (firmware on the web to change the flash screen to...

L322 Sat nav problems on 2004 l322 vogue

I looked up some used part pictures on Ebay and do not see a fuse on the unit itself. So I am thinking of another car, or the harness could contain the fuse. So this could be a dead end. You should be able to disconnect the harness and examine to determine.

L322 Sat nav problems on 2004 l322 vogue

My recollection is that if the sat nav cd does not turn off that could be the source of your problem. Theory being - The light is remaining on because the unit is still trying to read data, which it cannot for some reason. Therefore the unit is sending a signal which contains no displayable...

L322 Sat nav problems on 2004 l322 vogue

You state: "The monitor unit / head set unit is back lit but does not display anything." I would take this as you have a signal issue going into the unit. You need to check all your connections with an emphasis on the known trouble spots - water intrusion in the rear. You state you did this -...

    L322 does any one have

A number of things. 1) As holidaychicken states the 45 deg b/4 TDC is a safe place from valve to piston contact. 2) to get the cams reinstalled RAVE mentions lobe position at page 12-92 for Bank 2 (not finding Bank 1 but it is in there) - like holidaychicken suggests this is to take...

L322 Can the L322 be moved on the starter motor?

If you have another car or truck - strap a rope to it and pull it or use an old unmounted tire bumper to bumper (beware of bumper height differences) and push it. In neutral of course. Slowly tighten strap or slowly compress the tire - no jerking or ramming (I already hear the comments on that...

For RAVE look here: https://www.rangerovers.net/forum/6-range-rover-mark-iii-l322/23962-start-here-frequently-asked-questions-faq.html scroll down and you will find it. Regarding the parts I mentioned in above post #13 found in RAVE at 12-7 and 12-10 (numbering in lower corner of RAVE), step...

    L322 does any one have

Looks like engines #2 and #3 on my 2004 named McGregor. As you are having the heads cleaned and replacing the block those are not of concern. But I strongly recommend you carefully inspect and clean your oil filter housing and hoses. Check for metal sparkle at the bottom of the housing. If...

L322 On a scale 1 to 10 How hard is.....

Responding to some of your points. First I switched from a 3/8" Torx 55 to an 1/2" Torx 55. Why - similar to what you are saying. My larger torque wrench is 1/2" so I usually run an adapter to 3/8" to fit my T55. Well wouldn't you know - the adapter twisted and snapped at about 110nm. So...

L322 On a scale 1 to 10 How hard is.....

Few comments. First for your overall question - I have done this several times and I am doing it now beacuse for some reason my timing moved. I think it may be the Vanos bolt on Bank 2, but when I have turned it with some force holding the cam with my ground down 27mm spanner it seemed tight...
