Do I sell and buy a newer model?

What would your suggestions be? I’m open to solutions of enjoyment without the bread knife questioning the pennies (pounds) disappearing

Do I sell and buy a newer model?

Another option is a non land rover (please don't chuck me out the group). It's not a path I want to go down but if I want to stay occasionally Laning it may be the only option as the better half won't let me keep dipping into the house fund!

Do I sell and buy a newer model?

I’m having issues with the D2 and don’t have the time or patients to fix her. Every time I think I’ve fixed an issues, the next one appears followed closely by the original. I knew what I was signing up for but circumstances have changed and I have less time to play let alone tinker now. so, do...

    Exhaust kaput

as the title suggests, my exhaust is broke. Well, it still works but there is a hell of a rattle and noise from it so I think it is time to replace it. I have seen this one on the net...

    Disco 2 Battery drain

Right guys, I'm back again as it seems my solved problem has resurfaced! At first it was I thought due to not being used so my dad has had the car during lockdown to keep it running on his trips to work weekly however it seems it is parked up for a couple of days the battery needs a jump. One...

    Disco 2 Battery drain

Thanks for the responses. I think I've found the route of the problem and seeing as I find all the other posts useful thought I'd share my findings for others if they ever look like I do. After my schoolboy error yesterday I have check the amps like I intended to and started with 0.19 pull...

    Disco 2 Battery drain

I’m fed up jump starting the disco every time I want to use it so decided today to do some investigation work. The battery was changed end of July due to the same issue occurring which appeared to fix the issue howler it has manifested again in the last 4-5 weeks. With the engine running the...

Disco 2 Replace td5 exhaust manifold - accessing the nuts!?

Hi @Stanleysteamer been off grid the last week or so working so only just seen this! Decided against the de-cat. It has one in place (2004 reg) so like you I think it is best to keep it. I may replace it with a new one in time but for now it' seem's ok. All leaks appear to have ceased which is...

Thanks @Stanleysteamer you've been a big help with this!!

Disco 2 Replace td5 exhaust manifold - accessing the nuts!?

Yep, found the leak. It was in the second joint from the turbo into the exhaust down pipe. Think we've sorted this but not sure it's completly sealed as under high revs there is still some escaping fumes (assuming it's exhaust gas here) but nowhere near the extent it was. Not sure if this now...

Disco 2 Replace td5 exhaust manifold - accessing the nuts!?

@Stanleysteamer thanks. Unfortunately had 2 sheared studs on nr5, replaced these with new longer studs but left the old ones where they where everywhere else. Didn't see the point in replacing what appeared to be solid ones. We sealed around the manifold to the block but just used the gaskets...

Disco 2 Replace td5 exhaust manifold - accessing the nuts!?

So all the parts turned up and I today set about replacing the manifold (skimmed one bought from LDS Engineering). All went well, except forgot to replace the washes on the oil feed pipe so after cleaning the inevitable mess up, took her for a drive and there is still a leak of exhaust fumes...

Disco 2 Replace td5 exhaust manifold - accessing the nuts!?

Had my D2 remapped yesterday by dynachip and he's pointed out that my exhaust manifold has warped. Attempted to remove it this afternoon to have it skimmed and there is one but which we cannot access...the front bottom one. Reading Haynes it suggests removing the fan, releasing the tension in...

Defender vs D2 vs D3 quandary

Not sure I mentioned a cost? Galv'd chassis new for the disco is looking at circa £5500 (bought and labour). For this the banks would be getting a phone call for a loan. So, getting the loan, plus what I would get for my disco with a pessimistic view, would then give me the money to look at...

Defender vs D2 vs D3 quandary

My D2 is currently in the garage having some chassis work done. The rust I found late last year appeared to only be a portion of the issue and the previous owner had cunningly sealed in a lot more which I didn't see when buying her (it was my fist 4x4 purchase, I was excited, it looked ok). I...

My Disco 2 needs some welding

I'd like to say he was being honest but he didn't even look at it. Saying that my dad bumped into him and he suggested to my dad that expanding foam, some fibreglass then underseal would make it a keeper. Needless to say this is the last custom they have from me or my dad. It's going in to...

My Disco 2 needs some welding

So the garage I was taking the disco to this morning has said they are unable to weld it for one reason or another. Realistically I just don't think they fancied it from their attitude. I have spoken to another who was recommended by a friend of a friend who is willing to take a look at it on...
