When I accelerate hard, the engine hunts and kangaroos,and seems to have no go on hills, it is an auto, having looked at other forums and you tube I am wondering if it is the waste gate valve, can anybody help on this?

I have a 2001 td5 auto, when i use kick down the vehicle reluctant to change and the engine seems to hunt as though it can't make up it's mind, has anybody experienced this and know the solution?
