Disco 2 Remote key

why is it that i can lock the vehicle with the remote from quite a distance away but I cannot unlock the vehicle unless I hold the remote next to the car.

Are you performing the D2 unlock dance before you finish with a flourish and assume the Unlock Stance whilst pressing the unlock button????
This ensures the maximum effect from pressing the button.

Are you approaching the Disco from a different direction when you unlock and lock it using the remote?

I get this problem quite often. I thought the fob battery was dying, then 15 ft away, it works fine. This can happen with any fob. We cannot work out what the problem is. Rf is new, Bcu's are rebuilt, keyfobs are perfect. If anyone can find the reason, please let me know.

IMO it's not a hardware issue , it's about the carrier signal's modulation on the unlock command, it's a common symptom in RF applications as the same carrier signal(433MHz in this case) to have different ranges according to the modulation

Don't be silly, all that does is invert the frequency of the carrier signal

Darn you are right, how about movng the fob forwards and backwards really quickly, ?????? shirley that would do it.

You know, that might just do it, as it'll throw the signal towards the car, thereby increasing the range.

All that will do is change the frequency up and down, check out "The Doppler Effect"
