    It just stopped

So I changed the Crank Sensor tonight and the car is running. No stops or jolts so far. I am too scared to drive it around the block because I don't want to sit there for hours waiting for a recovery van. So just running it on the drive for now. Hopefully this has fixed the cutting out. Thanks...

    It just stopped

I changed the fuel filter this evening. It is running OK but I felt the engine stop for a split second and then continued to run. I think the problem is still there. So tomorrow I am going to change the crank sensor.

    It just stopped

I think the ejecting fob was another issue. But it seems to be OK now. I think it was the cold weather causing it to not eject. Thanks!

    It just stopped

Thanks all for the replies. I fitted a new battery recently, so I went for purchasing a crank sensor and a fuel filter because it has never been changed for years. The parts arrived today so I will be fitting them this weekend unless it is raining. I will post back an update. Cheers!

    It just stopped

I have a 2009 Freelander HSE 2.2 Deisel. I have been using it for the past 2 days with no problems. This morning, I was sitting in the car with the engine running and just entering an address into the Satvav. I just got ready to drive away and the engine just stopped with the message "reduced...

FL2 2009 Engine starts then slowly stops unless

Wow, OK, I did not know it can get a bug and has a shelf life. That is quite interesting. I will investigate that then. Thank you!

FL2 2009 Engine starts then slowly stops unless

If I just press the brake and start my 2009 FL2 TD, it starts and then starts miss firing and then stops as if it is starved of fuel. But if I keep my foot on the brake and accelerator, it starts, and I take me foot of the accelerator it keeps going as normal. The car has been standing on the...

OK, I will check this out as well. I think battery first and then this is the second thing on the list as it's never been done and well overdue. Thanks!

Yes, sounds like battery to me as well. All I can do is purchase a new one. Then find its the starter as well :).

    Freelander 2 2008 starting issue

Battery is about 6 years old. It's a Yuasa the AA sold me when I was desperate in the middle of nowhere with a dodgy battery. I charge it and it looks like its OK but I have a tester connected to the test port in the dash and its saying 9 volts which is not good. So it could be battery. I have...

    Freelander 2 2008 starting issue

Hi All, Please could anyone help? I have a 2008 Freelander 2 and I have had it on the drive for 8 months where it has not been used. I started it about 3 months ago OK. Yesterday, I found the battery completely flat. So, it's been on charge for 24 hours and is fully charged. When I press the...

When I press the Stop button it takes about 2 seconds for the engine to stop. So hopefully that is OK.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) 2008 2.2 TD HSE Average 14MPG

The starter cranks once. But the starter motor turns about 3 to 4 revolutions before the engine starts.

    Freelander 2 (LR2) 2008 2.2 TD HSE Average 14MPG

Hi, basically I mean that when the start button is pressed once, the starter motor turns about 3 to 4 times before the engine starts. My main concern was the Average 14MPG to be honest. But from the answers it seems to be OK. Thanks,

    Freelander 2 (LR2) 2008 2.2 TD HSE Average 14MPG

Mmmm, that was not the answer I wanted to hear. I just started it again and it turned over about 3 times which didnt seem to bad. There is no glow plug light coming on at all. But surely if there are no glow plugs it would not start at all. The only thing bugging me is if there is a performance...
