    Another Noisy 200Tdi...

To answer some of the questions above.... Cant feel any blowing from the HG down the back. Yes I have a 'proper' temp gauge. Coolant is filled to the seam, but after a 30 minute run today it is empty again. There seems to be some white crusty stuff around the thermostat housing and nearby...

    Another Noisy 200Tdi...

Just checked the coolant again, 2 litres short. I cannot see any leak so I might assume HG has gone. At least I'll be able to check caps and tappet gaps while I'm at it. Thanks.

    Another Noisy 200Tdi...

Hi all, its been a long time since I needed the collective advice from LZ, but the Defender is acting up... It going to be one of those, hard to describe, harder to imagine issues that should really be put in front of a professional. Anyway, the symptoms: Sounds a bit tractor like at idle, a...

Mine blows quite hot. Which is why I thought that splitting the flow and diverting to the window would be a good fix.

OK, so I do have 2 sets (I was keeping one for myself but can always print more). If you guys PM me your addresses I'll send them off to you when I get back in a couple weeks. I think you will need some 15mm ID tubing to pipe the warm air to the window vent.....

    Side Window Demisting

I will be back in the UK in 2 weeks and have a set of the pipe air-flow splitters/vents to give to whomever can convince me that they will be fitting them for testing the soonest :) I would do it myself but I have a full program of Weddings/Christenings and, after sitting in a sandy hole for a...

    Show us yer wheels....

Research on how to get them fitted - many people ask if it's possible to fit one type of wheel or another, rather than ask if it is possible I looked into how to do it then decided whether I might want to do it. I think cars like the G55/63 pull off the street wheel on boxy 4x4 rather well and...

    Show us yer wheels....

After much research I have decided to take the plunge. You purists are going to rage.... I have found a set of 20" Range Rover Sport wheels at a reasonable price, and have the 5x165 - 5x120 PCD adapters ready to order, along with wheel nuts and spigot rings. Purely a Summer wheel set for...

    Side Window Demisting

Repaired the printer, added black filament and printed these today.... Vent fits in a 16mm hole (because that's the size of my hole saw :) : And the adapter for the feed, 45mm OD pipe fits the inlet and it has a 45mm ID for fitting to the bottom of the vent.: Took 7 hours to print.

    Side Window Demisting

Helpful, but I don't think it is required, thanks. I'll work off 45mm for now and I'll be test fitting in my dash anyway. So the Mud coin tray is 17 odd quid. I can print my own for about 50p worth of filament and 10 minutes design time. I might do one just to tide me over until the phone dock...

    Side Window Demisting

I have 2 independent measurements saying the pipe is 45mm ID, I guess that is close enough for me. I can always fine tune later. Or stick them in with a bit of silicon :D I'll have a look when I get back and see if an iPhone dock is feasible. The problem is that Apple keep changing the bloody...

They are made to accommodate 15mm ID pipe, which seems to be a readily available size. The cross in the middle is for structure/strength and the cross-members are 2mm in width. These can be done to any shape or design or angled to direct flow. I also don't want to scavenge too much air away...

    Side Window Demisting

In-line side exits are all drawn-up, as are the vents. Ordered a load of black printer filament and a set of heater elements to replace the one I broke :( Ready to print through March. They will take about a day to print each set. I've added more here so you can see from many angles, but I...

Ebay tells me it is 45mm so have designed it to that size. Would be good to get confirmation though. Thanks. Then I broke the heater element on the 3D printer. Bugger. I now won't be able to get them done until April.

15 quid for one at the moment. But I don't want a vent, only the pipe inlet diameter. Have already designed and printed a side vent, just need to do the 'Y' piece and can go into production.

I can say I do secret stuff, just not what that secret stuff is; it's a secret.

    Side Window Demisting

It printed. But there were issues.... It does not like the 'vaulted' ceiling so looks a bit rough inside, plus it is too big for the Makerbot so needs to be printed in 2 parts. Fallback plan is to print a couple of vents to fit a 15mm ID hose and a 'Y' piece to fit just before the windscreen...

Ooh, they look a lot like mine :D I hope they are not patented. Or more to the point, I hope the patent owner doesn't have the cash to defend their patent  I have a feeling mine will not sit flush as the original vent is slightly recessed, but it is easy enough to knock up a spacer that...

    Side Window Demisting

60 quid? Yowzers. What do you mean by 'rubbish quality'? Design or build? Mine would be printed so would need finishing but very sturdy. I'll get back in a week and try mine for fit, then refine design and possibly, just possibly, do a limited run! They take about 24 hours to print so I'd...
