Side Window Demisting

It printed. But there were issues.... It does not like the 'vaulted' ceiling so looks a bit rough inside, plus it is too big for the Makerbot so needs to be printed in 2 parts.

Fallback plan is to print a couple of vents to fit a 15mm ID hose and a 'Y' piece to fit just before the windscreen vent. The 'Y' will have a small 'scoop' inside to divert air flow to the side vent.

Does anyone have a windscreen vent that they can measure the diameter of the inlet of the standard tubing for me. There is a free set of vents in it for you :D

Anyone interested in a set of vents and the 'Y' pieces? The hose is about 70 quid for 50m so about 1.50 per set, I would estimate that the print filament would be about a quid so all-in about a fiver a set, posted

That's more like a solution than the 60 quid bolt-on or 100 quid vent set.

Yeah sure I would buy a set.

I can measure the pipe size as they are all exposed in a military landrover not hidden away, but I won't be able to do it until tomorrow

In-line side exits are all drawn-up, as are the vents.

Ordered a load of black printer filament and a set of heater elements to replace the one I broke :(

Ready to print through March. They will take about a day to print each set.

I've added more here so you can see from many angles, but I guess a Landy only needs 2 of each.

They are made to accommodate 15mm ID pipe, which seems to be a readily available size.

The cross in the middle is for structure/strength and the cross-members are 2mm in width. These can be done to any shape or design or angled to direct flow.

I also don't want to scavenge too much air away from demisting the windscreen, that is the really important bit. I thought I might need to choke them off a bit more, if anything, to stop too much air coming out.

I'll be poking around in the dash of my Landy in about a week and will come up with final design at that point. I need to see if the in-line pieces will fit in the space under the dash, if any angle to the vent is required, and a few other finishing touches.

Now what about the ash tray? What can I print to go in that space? Someone has already come up with a simple coin/key tray, I might see if I can convert it to a phone holder/charging pod, or a gauge pod, cup holder,

An iPhone dock would be cool.

Do you still need that measurement or are you sorted?

I have 2 independent measurements saying the pipe is 45mm ID, I guess that is close enough for me. I can always fine tune later.

Or stick them in with a bit of silicon :D

I'll have a look when I get back and see if an iPhone dock is feasible. The problem is that Apple keep changing the bloody dimensions.
