    Diesel Fuel Additives/Cleaners

Not exactly the same, but previously I had an Audi 2.0 TDi. It had the standard variable vane turbo problem, meaning it over boosted and went into limp mode. I took it to my local Audi specialist and they recommended the `Forte` range of cleaners. It wasnt cheap, £40 for the turbo cleaner one...

    Head Gasket TD5

Sorry to hijack a little, but how do I know what engine I would have, (15p??) mines a 2003 TD5. Always good to see pictures, it gives a novice like me an idea of what is going on. Best of luck fixing your engine!

    Front vent flaps

This is how I fully expect it to go. Started a `program` of WD40 for this week, will order some stainless pins tonight.

    Front vent flaps

That's great, thanks for that as I didn't know you could get them. Will order a set up this week and soak it each day before attempting something next weekend.

    Front vent flaps

Cheers, that will be my first option then, going to take some freeing up though!

    Front vent flaps

As the weather is starting to warm a tad, I need these vents working. The passenger side one opens a bit, halfway maybe, but I think it's just bending the metal it is hinging on, as seen in the picture. It's holding it up/wonky angle, and the drivers side will not budge an inch. The knob inside...

Fitting rear mud flats to a 90

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rivnut-tool.297772/page-2#post-3713563 I put a post on page 2 in this link with a (massive!) picture with the slight mod i done to the tool to make stronger for purpose.

Fitting rear mud flats to a 90

Thats why I had to do get the tool! agree with the extending the handles, its a lot of pressure needed to pull them up. If you bought the cheap tool that I did, the pin it pivots on is held in with a small circlip thing. I found this kept popping off and the metal splayed out slightly, simple to...

Fitting rear mud flats to a 90

I bought a £11 rivnut tool and a few rivnuts off ebay, did the job a treat. Others use a nut and bolt method to fit the `rivnuts` but I wasnt happy with results. Its easy with the tool, both will be fitted in 10 mins.

    Oil leak from swivel

Just an update to this problem in case anyone searched for something similar. Mechanic sorted it yesterday, had allowed himself 4 hours but took him 2 1/2 hours, said everything came apart fine, bearings were in good condition in there too. Replaced with landrover genuine seals. Cost £106 all...

    Rivnut tool

Just done this job on my td5 with that £11 eBay jobby. I bought some hex RivNuts too. When I got it the central pin was missing it's circlip, so I fitted one. This didn't work because of the pressure needed to pop the nut, the handles kept splaying out. I simply solved this by fitting a bolt and...

    Oil leak from swivel

This is what it had done a few years back, I will replace seals with genuine landrover ones and see how she goes

    Oil leak from swivel

Thanks for the link there. It's a 2003 td5, and up until I last looked the condition of the balls was both the same, no damage etc.

    Oil leak from swivel

Noticed some oil from what I think is called the swivel on the front axle. I have included a picture of my good one and my bad one. The hubs were all done up in 2010-ish before I got it. They seem to be in good condition, no rust or pitting. What do I need to get my mechanic to get hold of, I'm...

Yes I think he meant the the UJ was hammered on. Im sorry if I wasnt clear in my description, im not sure what it all lookslike under there, let alone how it all works, and couldnt exactly remember everything he told me when he brought the car back, he does like to talk! But after a few days of...

    Handbrake works again!

Had my mechanic sort my oil leak from the handbrake drum today. The seal was pretty warped, can see why it was leaking. He said it looks like a patten part, (picture below) he replaced with genuine landrover part, said it did cost more but some parts are worth the little extra. He said that he...

TD5 03 couple of oil leaks + water

Will do. Some parts I never scrimp on. On previous cars things like cambelts would only be genuine. Mechanic is having it in next Thursday to have a look and see exactly what parts he needs and if there is anything else while he is at it.

TD5 03 couple of oil leaks + water

Very interesting, I would never have known that. I will let my mechanic know. They dont seem too expensive so will look at getting that replaced. Again, thanks. Like the water pump, I will let the mechanic know, it might give him something to start with. Im quite lucky, his garage is only a...
