    where's my coolant gone...

Still couldn't find where the coolant's going, so I took it down to the local garage and they had a look and did a pressure test. And they couldn't find it either. Best guess would seem to be a worn water pump (thanks to a previous reply) which is thought to leak only when it aligns in a...

    where's my coolant gone...

Ok; thanks to you all. Another day has come, I'm off out into the snow with new batteries in my torch, glasses cleaned and new hope in my heart. How long before I trudge back in with flat batteries, dirty glasses and a sinking feeling in my heart? :hurt:

    where's my coolant gone...

Going back a couple of years it used to appear in the cubby box (or sink) in the back... then I fitted a new head gasket and adjusted the rear window and that little trick stopped. ;)

    where's my coolant gone...

Yup, stood watching for ages with it running, couldn't see anything coming from anywhere, burnt my arm on the exhaust manifold and got a bit of a leak from my arm.

    where's my coolant gone...

Happy New Year to you all. I've been very quiet for a few months, nothings gone wrong,until... My purple 1999 1.8 freelander has managed to lose all it's coolant; if i squeeze the bottom hose, there is nothing there. So I refilled it and it lost it all overnight. There are no visible signs of...

    clinky gear type noise

Hello all, ok , here goes. This is on my freelander 1.8 1999 (mauve). It's gone for 3 months without any problems. BUT now I have a clinky gear type noise coming from the front of the car noticible when reversing and turning (not at full lock, that's a different noise) and also when turning...

    ABS modulator

Hello Peeps, This is on my 1999 1.8 3-door moneyeater. I recently replaced a wheel sensor and cv joint which successfully got rid of that fault. BUT... the 3 amigoes then came back on after sharp braking. My mechanics fault reader now brings up Shuttle valve fault, which probably means the abs...

    three amigoes,one solution

Finally took my 1.8 1999 3 door freelander to an independant LR specialist. My model is pre OBD2 so the cheap code readers now available are useless. I've read plenty about sensors but never understood or found a good description of what can go wrong. It was diagnosed as faulty sensor on a LR...

    Freelander 1 speddometer accuracy

Yup. Mine reads high, always has done. I travel at 10% above prevailing speed limit to prevent annoying following cars too much. I always reckoned the schoolboy engineers who misdesigned the freelander needed new batteries in their calculators.

    freelander clutch problem

Sounds like the shaft going into clutch housing starting to seize. Spray it with penetrating oil.

Am I alone to experience this ?

It was only a matter of time. A freelander problem page with a freelander type problem...:hysterically_laughi

    tyre presures

I seem to remember LR issuing a missive about five years ago as regards tyre pressure reduction from 30 to 26. However, depending on where you go, you will get either answer or something completely different. . I get even wear at 26 which I didn't get at 30. However it would be handy...

    tyre presures

215/65/16 ; 26psi on 1.8 freelander for normal driving. Originally was 30psi but the tyres went out of shape a bit. Stand back and wait to be corrected.

    clutch problems

Spray the shaft with penetrating oil. Or if it's really seized, then use a blowtorch on it as well, but not when you've just sprayed it.....:flame:

    Clutch Adjustment 1.8 petrol

No adjustment on mine. Check slave cylinder mounting bracket ( you need to remove the battery to see clearly). This can bend and fracture. Is the clutch stiff to operate? If so, then the cause maybe the rod going into the clutch housing starting to seize up causing the bracket to bend. A spray...

Hot & Thirsty Freelander - Advice Needed

If it's got a 1.8 engine then that would be the head gasket, assuming that you'd already checked the hoses.
