P38 DSE ...how to get 39mpg

A powerbox alters input signals to the ECU, not output signals, therefore cannot affect the MPG reading. Sounds like your RR just isn't good at maths, assuming you are.

    New Thermostat & Viscous Fan?

Sounds like it working correctly if it's at 12 o'clock, 1/4 isn't. Getting fan off can seem impossible, it needs and almighty whack with the water pump pulley held, i rigged up a flat bar with two holes bolted to the pulley bolt holes. I thought i hit it so hard i must have damaged the water...

    P38 Idle problems??

The needle should be on the first mark below 1000rpm, which is actually 750rpm as the tacho doesn't start at 0, it starts at 250rpm.

    Pulling power.

Are you sure first off that your fuel/air systems are all in tip top condition? I did a bit of maintenance over the weekend, mainly unblocking the MAP sensor tube, and its made a big difference when going up hills. Chipping works definitely, I've no experience of an uprated intercooler, but...

    nexen tyres

Nexen are good, I've got some Roadstone Roadians on mine which i think are similar, you can't beat the price, and I can't afford Pirellis! Not the same as the Freelander, tyre rotation is allowed.

    Alternate Spare Tyre Storage

If you try and mount the spare wheel on the outside of a P38, then it should be taken it off you as punishment for ruining a good car! The solution is easy anyway, just carry the spare wheel in the boot on the day you know you're going to have a puncture, for all the other days you'll have...

    P38 Bleeding Brakes

I recently had to bleed the brake system on my P38, I followed the procedure in RAVE, which if you have done so will know its a long and complicated process! Anyway that went all ok and the brakes feel good, but I notice that the first press of the pedal in the morning has a lot of travel...

    Vibration Damper

The damper is in two parts, and they bond goes between them. This happened to mine, but after replacing it I didn't notice much difference. I got one for a BMW 525 from Euro Car parts for £60.

EAS Problem - Need experts advise

I would doubt the prognosis. Stuck valve error is a red herring; start at the easy to change bits first, compressor seal, inlet and exhaust filters, check the air bags, check all the lines for leaks. Don't go messing with the valve block and the drive pack till you have checked everything...

EAS - Air Bags - Not the usual question

No they are different, completely different chassis between the D2 and P38.

    lost oil

Not a lot you can do really so best to stop worrying about it if you can; or you could strip the engine down for inspection and replace all bearings that show wear, yeah right... Did the engine oil pressure light come on?

buying a td6 what to look for

Just like any car, but especially an early L322, I'd make sure it had only a few owners, fsh, both sets of keys, all the manuals and was totally original. Specifically check the front diff has had the replacement part fitted, check the cooling system over, and check every single piece of...

    No suction through air filter

I remember trying to get the plenum off my old 3.9 V8, couldn't loosen the socket cap bolts for love nor money! May not be a problem in your case but you might want to see if they can be undone before you set aside a whole day replacing the inlet manifold gasket.

What would you buy? 05 with 93k mls or 53 with 44k mls??????

If I was in your position I would go for the lower mileage one, I wouldn't buy any car which had a scruffy interior though, I'd want my cake and to eat it, so maybe keep looking. A garage told you it was a good car? Well that's all you need to know!

Missing service - Should I buy it?

The L322 uses a service indicator to tell when it needs servicing, so if its been done every that must have been what the computer wanted. To be fair if a guy has been doing 30k miles per year with a V8, he'll probably have the dough to keep it well looked after!

    Buying New Range Rover Too!

I notice a few threads on her about which new Range Rover to buy, I need some help too. It's not over which one to buy, I've chosen the 4.4 TDV8, but now I am wondering what is the best flooring to keep it on in the garage. Should I have individually hand carved marble tiles flown over from...
