update i have put the car on stands and got the mrs to put it in first the pinion is spinning lovely and there is no noise coming from it fromwhat i can hear maybe different under load i dont no i have noticed that the pinion hasnt ben capped off with one of those blanking plates a lot of people...

thats what im thinking ive got the mod gasket timing belt n water pump kit already to go on its really just the 4x4 issue like you say at 300 quid it doesnt owe me much yet lol

scrap then ??? shame its in mint condition aswell lol so realistically the drive train has failed the cost was too high so they removed it i have seen a complete unit for 250 notes but im not sure what else they would have done to the transmision to enable it to run on two wheels instead of four...

hi everyone recently purchased a 2002 freelander s 1.8 petrol off a work mate i bought it cheap as the usual head gasket is starting to fail . i was lifting the car to remove the skid pan from under the engine when i noticed that the prop shaft wasnt there !!!!! now im totally new to land rovers...
