    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Engine number doesnt tally now, for sure..... I put a Turner top hat block in last year and have no idea what the old engine number was. This Christmas mystery story is way deeper than any 'Midsomer Murders' crap the telly can offer! I will dig out the crack for my microcat and run an item by...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

:confused: Odder and odder..... Microcat details correct for everything except powerfold mirrors and........Those bl**dy HO2 sensors. The rear pair are properly (factory) fitted, correct wiring, brackets fitment holes, not that I can see any possible reason for anyone to want to fit...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Sounds like a plan.... where does one locate these marvels of modern technology?? Removal of the internal cat workings was how I intended to play this, if the ecu can be persuaded to play along. ;).... Could have been a Marina, I suppose- just slightly worse! Merry Christmas all!:D

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

I struggle to understand why a NAS spec underbonnet was built as a R/H drive motor.........but may as well ask the meaning of life! Not impossible that an ecu swap was done, I guess, although all the NAS functions work as they should - or did, anyhow. The build detail from microcat for my...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Had a look at the Hawkeye handbook online which appears to say ecu programming is not an option. Also read up a lot more rave info on the motronic ecu and am still no wiser! As I read it, the mil should self extinguish on all but NAS ecu faults involving the cats, only remaining lit on NAS...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Mine appears to be UK spec on a 640 part no. But there are 4 HO2 sensors as per NAS spec. Hmmm.... interesting. Read the rave through, understand it, but don't know how the UK ecu copes with the extra sensors. Presumably they are operational in order to show a fault and turn on the mil, which...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

I have read through some of it in the past, but not in respect of this particular issue...... I will try and get back into my rave download, but suspect I will need to re-download a fresh one. I don't know about the ecu either, and again, my microcat copy is subject to being able to get it to...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

and, let me guess..... Sierrafery just went to California for christmas fortnight..... What I am rather hoping, James, is that some one will tell me that ten mins on testbook will turn off the bit of ecu brain that recognises the lambda signals, hence killing the light, but also not causing...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Guess who still don't know wether he can get the little light to go away if he throws the cat out.......

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Guess who bought an '02..... Guess who sold their last 4.6 crank just before I blew me engine.......

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

'Twas them as killed me cats......:D

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

If so, then my luck runs true......I only got 4litres - tried for a 4.6 rebuild from Turners last year, but failed agin..... parts not available to uprate my engine.

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

I keeps tellin you...... I always was lucky! The sort of lucky that buys a bulk order of frozen lasagne the day before Findus get found out..... I guess this Disco missed the boat on export day, or was a friday job at the factory and they forgot to swap the steering wheel to the other...

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Emmisions reducing crap that injects air into the cold engine via a small compressor under the bonnet (hood???) and a mile of associated plumbing that runs directly above the sparkers and makes them exceedingly difficult to get at.

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Told you I always was lucky - I get to live in deepest Hertfordshire, but own a California spec motor...... nearest I'll get to living the Baywatch lifestyle. All the joy of secondary air pipework blocking access when I want to change the plugs too.

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

Before AND after on mine James..... I always was the lucky one :(

    D2 V8 LPG & killed cats

OK chaps, here's one for the testbook experts. The engine warning light is permanently lit, and the fault shows as cat/s fubarred. Not surprising, given the amount of playing around I have done with the LPG system. Given that I do not need cats to pass the emission test, can I remove them from...

    pump noise on startup?

Thanks for that, but I'm in the land of strikes and Fish&Chips.

    pump noise on startup?

Guess I hit my usual luck  - its fitted to mine, and makes access to plugs etc very difficult! Also, no doubt, will cost a bomb to fix when I finally get fed-up with listening to it on start-up, and parts will be hard to come by cos its an Americanism.

    pump noise on startup?

Secondary air pump -nearside rear corner of engine bay. If the pump motor is on its way out, it will be noisy, but cuts out when temp is reached. All to do with NAS emissions recircultion gubbins. I got the same thing in mine.
