pump noise on startup?

Hi all
When I start my D2 V8 I get a noise that sounds like a pump running! it only happens now and again, if I switch off the ignition and re start it does not happen again! sounds like it's coming from the front nearside corner! any ideas what it could be?

Secondary air pump -nearside rear corner of engine bay. If the pump motor is on its way out, it will be noisy, but cuts out when temp is reached. All to do with NAS emissions recircultion gubbins. I got the same thing in mine.

ABS pump turning over.

SAI is not normally fitted on UK/Europe spec vehicles, but there are a few around.

The cassette player make a noise as well, too me a while to work that one out!

Guess I hit my usual luck :doh: - its fitted to mine, and makes access to plugs etc very difficult! Also, no doubt, will cost a bomb to fix when I finally get fed-up with listening to it on start-up, and parts will be hard to come by cos its an Americanism.
