    TD5 Down On Power

So, disconnected the MAF and it appeared to run better. However, after reconnecting I wasn't so sure - maybe its the placebo effect. Going to try a couple more runs with and without the MAF to try and get confirmation. Additionally I'm going to do some live readings from the Nancom too. Worth...

    TD5 Down On Power

Thanks all for the replies. Just to add, at the weekend I took out my MAP sensor and it was long overdue a clean - in all honesty it does seem to run a bit better now, but it isn't where it should be. Higher revs still seem to have hesitation but it feels more pokey off the line now (or maybe...

    TD5 Down On Power

EGR has been blanked off, but I'll take the MAP out for a clean anyway. I'd been reading about the wastegate - do you need to completely remove it to check it or can it be done in-situe?

    TD5 Down On Power

Thanks for the details response - definitely given me a lot to move forward with. The other Disco wasn't mapped so was a relatively fair comparison. i have just done fuel pump and filter so at least I can tick off a few things.

    TD5 Down On Power

Just wanted to see if anyone has experienced similar. TD5 Automatic Discovery (1999) with 145000 miles on the clock and it seems down on power with no obvious cause. Just had a new MAF and injector loom. Nanocom showing no faults. Just seems that when you put your foot down from about 2300rpm...

    Disco TD5 Fuel Gauge behaviour

Just wondered if anyone might have seen this before or have any ideas what to could be (if it isn’t the obvious). Truck is a 1999 Discovery TD5 (~140,000 miles) When I start my truck the fuel gauge reads accurately. As you drive, after a couple of mins the fuel gauge starts dropping and after...

disco td5 in tank fuel pump

What do you define as 'poor' fuel economy? I'm getting low 20's in mine and everything is working as it should. I had a failed MAF (which is claimed to cause fluctuations in MPG) but replacing it didn't really make any difference. I'm running some off road tyres as the truck spends most of it's...

    Steering knuckle ball joints

I was working along the lines of "how hard can it really be" ;) Main problem was once it was all stripped down it was too late to do anything other than carry on ... 100% worth making it someone else's problem thats for sure :D

    Steering knuckle ball joints

Mine just failed MOT on lower ball joint. Tested jacked the truck up and then observed the joint as he lowered the weight back down - it was really easy to see that there was some play in it. I decided to tackle the replacement myself (did upper and lower whilst it was all off) and it was the...

Need some paint for my Defender

Doing some repairs to some rush that is on the inside of the doors and not that I have cut/cleaned it all out I need to paint it to match. Can anyone make any recommendation as to a suitable place to pic up some spray that comes in Defender colours? My Defender is black and I can't find a...

    Immobiliser key fob sync

Looks like it isn't something that is easily done from what I have found. As it is essentially the same as pairing a new fob you have to go through that process, using a nanocom looks like a viable way of doing it but I don't believe (from my googling) there is a way of doing it using a similar...

    Immobiliser key fob sync

Hi, When I bought my Defender last month I got 2 fobs for the immobiliser with it. One of them is sync'd and works fine, however, the other one looks to have a dead battery for some time and is now out of sync with the vehicle. Just wondered if anyone had details of how to re-sync a key...

    Old Newark Road - Mansfield

I drive past this lane most days and just wondered if anyone knew if you can drive on it. Based on what I can find it looks all good - even the Google maps car has drive down it. It starts from the A60 near the College and ends up on the A6191 as you come out of Rainworth. Seeming as I drive...

    Fitting light bar to Defender

Morning all, Looking at getting one of these for my Defender: Pro Trac Defender 6 x Spot Light Bar - With 6 x Rectangular Spot Lights Just wondered if anyone uses one or has any reviews of them? Also, whilst there are a million wiring looms that you can buy I just wanted to pick the...

Greenlaning in and around Mansfield area

Hi all, As a relatively new Defender owner I'm keen to do some exploring in it, but obviously with being relatively inexperienced don't want to do anything stupid to me...or the truck. I just wondered if anyone knew of any greenlaning around the Mansfield area that was worth a drive, from...
