Just wondered if anyone might have seen this before or have any ideas what to could be (if it isn’t the obvious).

Truck is a 1999 Discovery TD5 (~140,000 miles)

When I start my truck the fuel gauge reads accurately. As you drive, after a couple of mins the fuel gauge starts dropping and after 5-10 mins it will read just above empty (with fuel warning light on) and it stays there ... UNLESS you park up/stay still for 5 mins or so the gauge will creep back up to the correct amount. But as soon as you pull of and move the truck it goes down again.

I’m presuming this is just the sender having lived it’s life as it appears that as the fuel sloshes around the ready just goes down. I’ve had the pump and sender out to check for dry joints as some people suggest but everything looked good.

Just wondered if anyone might have another idea or advice before I replace the pump and sender unit.

Cheers
Tom
