    Tensoiner bolts

Rad, etc out - alas, at the expense of the engine & gearbox oil coolant hoses. They were corroded in place, but then leaked a little anyway. . . To which end: Where can I get a set of hoses? & roughly how much??? EBay is oh little help (nothing new there)

    Tensoiner bolts

On the way back from work today, i heard a bang from the front of the car, the steering went very stiff and moments later I got an Alternator Failure warning. So i pulled over to check the carnage. . . The tensioner was still there and looked like it was still attached, the belt was fine and...

    Chipping a P38 2.5 diesel

Went the PSI Power box route and it makes a difference! :-) Better economy and it accelerates (well, faster than it did) Usually give the boy racers a run for their money - though not difficult against a 1.nothing citroen or vaxhaul Usually manage 32 ~ 34 mpg (its a manual)

    AIRCON condenser

OK - sounds good to me :-) BUT. . . . Doesn't the system need to be evacuated and have oil added??? Don't want seized compressor adding to my list of woes :-(

    AIRCON condenser

Is it also necessary to change the air dryer at the same time as the condensor??

    AIRCON condenser

Alas, its a pin cussion and has seen better days. There's only so much the sealant can cope with. . . Surely they can't be any worse than what came out??

    AIRCON condenser

Was worth asking. . . Just took the condenser out this eve and its shot - no chance of repair!! Got one (or two) more question: These aircon recharge kits, Are they any use, or not worth the trouble? Can they be used to fill the the system from empty?

    AIRCON condenser

Can anybody advise on this? My condenser has been hit by a stone (or something) and has started loosing gas. As I have only replaced it last year, I would rather not splash out on a new one and was wondering is it possible / recommended to solder, or braze it??? Cheers in advance :)

    Screeching tyres

As per suggestions, tried putting it to full lock and going around in circles (both directions), no tyre scrabbling, no nasty knocks or big bangs. It seems to cough a little, then off it goes. . . Tracking and tyre rotation it is then. If not, then, its off to a friendly LR specialist

    Screeching tyres

Good call, but alas no, they've been there for the last +30k miles and still have some life in them yet. They're not directional and its been six months since I rotated them. . . think I'll start with rotating them and having the tracking done. Then. . . Can anybody suggest a supplier of a...

    Screeching tyres

Well, had a go at turning one lifted wheel by hand - not really managed it. Before anybody comments - it was out of gear and the handbrake was off. It appears to have excessive wear on the inside edge of the front wheels - so possibly tracking too. . .

    Screeching tyres

Cheers Wills Ah, mileage. . . That would be just a little on the high side. Only about 180,000 miles. Not that high really – who am i kidding :-)

    Screeching tyres

So - if the viscous coupling is shot, I should not be able to turn the wheel once off the ground? Or am I being needlessly thick? How nasty is the viscous coupling replacement on a manual P38 DSE? & how expensive are they???

    Screeching tyres

Hello again, A little strange this, but: My P38 has taken to screeching tyres if i pull off in a rush (best not comment) and on sharp bends / round abouts. . . A little concerned that it may be the diffs?? Oil has been changed recently. Tyre pressures are correct. I haven't had the...

    What would you buy ?

Not sure about the money, but buy carefully: or you'll become very familiar with this forum. Not that, that's a bad thing :-) I have an R reg 2.5 diesel manual, with 176k and have had very few problems that a little TLC & elbo grease won't cure. I have tried the auto, both petrol & diesel and...
