Just recently bought a 1999 P38 DSE auto, with 90k and FSH, didn't meet reserve on eBay so did a deal afterwards.

It's got all the external "frills", bull-bar, spots, side-steps, dark-glass, roof bars etc. all of which I could do without, but it hasn't been chipped in any way and so drives a little "sluggish" when compared with my manual TD200 engined Classic.

What's the best aftermarket engine "upgrade" system to get for the DSE, and does anyone have a decent used one they would like to sell ?

A PSI Power box or Superchip seems the most used tuning mods.

There not a lot of difference in price between the two.

The power box plugs into the vehicle loom so can be easily removed if required, the super chip requires a chip base to be fitted into the engine ecm, once fitted you would have to replace the ecm to remove it.

And there doesn't seem to much difference in power increase according to the figures stated on the web.

PSI> PSI power box,diesel tuning,diesel chipping,diesel tuning box,diesel chips for PSI Motorsport,increased diesel performance

Superchip> Superchips - Superchips optimise the performance of your car, helping to maximise your driving pleasure.

Went the PSI Power box route
and it makes a difference! :)

Better economy and it accelerates
(well, faster than it did)
Usually give the boy racers a run for their money - though not difficult against a 1.nothing citroen or vaxhaul

Usually manage 32 ~ 34 mpg
(its a manual)

I had a look at the PSI link you gave above and it all looked OK at £380 inc VAT and shipping so I went through the online purchase process. At the very end while the Credit Card was being processed, the price jumped up to £446 so I tried to abort the transaction. I then tried to contact the company using the number on their website (0845 3978361) only to be told that the number was no longer valid (interestingly enough, the number has now been removed from the site). I then sent them an email and also used their online contact form but have as-yet received no response.

The company is (was?) :

Lotgrace Trading
P.O Box 383
Bridgwater
TA6 9BX

Anyone here ever used them and/or know if they are still trading or have I just been caught in a credit-card scam (I am checking my CC statements online every hour just in case, so far, so good) ?

Regards, Brian

Thats not the PSI website if you went to lotgracetrading.co.uk

PSI's real site is psipowerbox.com and they dont do online ordering, well, they didnt the last time I checked. Anyway, if you goto the genuine PSI site you will see their products and get a genuine phone number and address.

hopefully you haven't been caught out by any dodgy website :(
