    I'm leaving

There are lots of niggly things. I forget them all, but it seemed like every week something else electrical would fail. The main problems are the air suspension pump burnt out and left me stranded. Unlike the RR, when there is no air you cannot turn the steering because the tyres hit the...

Is that a pack of 20? I don't smoke but I could always sell them on.

    I'm leaving

18 months on and I have regretted every second of ownership. It's currently sat on my drive, uninsured, untaxed and undriveable and it's been like that for 6 months. My old P38 in retrospect was the best car I ever had. :(

    I'm leaving

That was taken at Burton Dassett. Only found out today that they allow you to drive on the hills :( I wish I knew while I still had the RR. It's hard getting used to a normal car. On narrow lanes I was used to pulling well over to let cars past not worrying about getting stuck in the mud...

    I'm leaving

Well better late than never. Only got to collect it yesterday. I am now officially RR-less. I got 44mpg on the M69 so I am not complaining :) Apologies to those who will think this heresy but a few photos

Well I finally pick it up tomorrow. I might post a few photos if any one's interested in a non rangey :)

    P38 Tailgate door solonoid buzzing..

It's not actually a solenoid. It's a small motor with a worm gear. The button has a permanent 12v supply and the neg to the switch is controlled by the BECM. The switch is easy to remove and test. I had mine out a while back and considering the water that must get on it it was perfect. At...

    I'm leaving

I'll continue to look in here. I've not really learnt much of any use regarding RR's though. But I will still get nostalgic. I still have her parked out front at the moment. She'll be gone by the end of the week. Like a few here I'd been having tailgate opening problems. i.e. it wouldn't. It's...

Anyone running a 2.5 Diesel on veg oil ?

This is all very interesting from a technical point, but how do you stand legally? Using veg oil on a highway when no fuel duty has been paid? If they stop you and dip your tank are you in trouble the same as if you were using red diesel? It seems too good to be true otherwise.

    range rover sale?

I got offered only slightly more as a trade in for my 98 4.6HSE with 83K. It's enough to make you cry isn't it. I've lost £394 for every month I've owned it.

    P38 Petrol Anti-Syphon?

I was trying to syphon out £50 worth of petrol before I sell it, but it doesn't work :( I even got a vacuum pump sucking the pipe but nothing. What have they done to stop you? The pipe seemed to go in a long way. My dad seems to think the filler pipe might go right into the tank and point...

    I'm leaving

I doubt I will ever get another one. The way things are going it's getting harder and harder to own one. I'd want one a lot newer anyway and I couldn't afford one. My boss just paid £30k for an 05 Sport HSE TDV6. I wouldn't want anything less than one of those ;) I still have the RR until...

Thanks for the advice. The suspension seems to be working fine. I did notice how thin the pipes were. I assumed that this was because they are for minor adjustments rather than huge height changes like the RR.

    I'm leaving

After only 9 months of Rangey ownership I am defecting. It's been a nice car in parts and I have had fun the few times I took it off road. It's been nice to drive but with fuel cost being what it is and me not wanting to "risk" money on an LPG conversion and with all the things in the car...

what engine should i go for (p38)

Are there things you can do to help reduce the chances of this block problem? My 1998 4.6 has just done over 80,000 with no problems. Would hard driving and foot to the floor a lot contribute to the problem? What are the first signs of this problem anyway? I don't notice anything unusual about...

    Request for info

I thought people in that part of the world had more success using a Toyota Land Cruiser. I know Land Cruiser is a dirty word in the UK, but I thought spares and service were more redly available in the antipodes.

p38's are officially rubbish....dont ever buy one

My P38 has a list of "faults" as long as both my arms. I will sort them when I get time. It's still the best car I have ever owned.

    Bye Bye X5

I am quite happy today. This morning a BMW X5 came whizzing past me on the A38 in Devon. I was doing a steady 55mph. Something clicked in my brain and I thought "***k you mate" so I put my foot down and caught up with him as soon a a van in front of him moved over he shot off in a cloud of...

What impact is A/C on MPG?

Thanks. I'd forgotten about the extra drag caused by open windows. I did read once how much fuel it costs with windows cracked open. I think then I have nothing to worry about.

What impact is A/C on MPG?

Does the A/C make much difference on the MPG for a 4.6 on petrol? Does the A/C have less of an impact due to the large engine compared to a Ford Focus or something or will it still use the same amount of extra fuel no matter what car it's on? I hate the heat so what ever the answer, it's...
