P38 Tailgate door solonoid buzzing..

My P38 tailgate solonoid is buzzing continuously, if i lock the doors it stops. Yet when i unlock the doors the top tailgate pops open and the solonoid buzz's again.

Do I need a new one or is this a faulty swicth ?

It's not actually a solenoid. It's a small motor with a worm gear.

The button has a permanent 12v supply and the neg to the switch is controlled by the BECM. The switch is easy to remove and test. I had mine out a while back and considering the water that must get on it it was perfect. At least one good on the RR

mine did it because the button was stuck in! new one from LR was £33!! it would start to buzz after it open for a few seconds, the lower tailgate that is!
