    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

Spotted it, "cheese" shaped box. It's not even screwed on, should be able to wiggle it out later. :D Thank you.

    Just got the light guards...

You're not the only one I did the same. When I first got my Defender the light guards were fixed with seized and spinning rivnuts and I just couldn't get a grip on them. Didn't think I'd have to use an angle grinder to change a bulb but that's what ended up doing. Replaced the rivnuts with...

    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

Here we go, two photos, as you can see the carpet covers the whole box:

    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

I'm not entirely convinced that the carpet I've got came from the factory ;) It completely covers the boxes that the seats are bolted onto. Of course it's also possible that I'm looking in completely the wrong place. Maybe I should take and post a photo :)

    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

Just gone to take a closer look and I'm not sure it's so simple. Got to remove the folding seats (fixed with some lovely brown coloured bolts), and then peal back the carpet (which is glued down and horrible to remove). Perhaps it'll be easier just to make do with the ends of the wires that are...

    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

Ah. Are those easily accessible with folding seats in place?

    Rear indicator multiplug 200tdi

Where does the multiplug that the rear indicator in my 200tdi 90 connects to live? How do I get to it? The lamp has been playing up for a while now and I've scrapped so much corrosion off there's not much left. Time to replace it :)

    Steering slack

So after all that fuss I got around to disconnecting the drop arm from the steering. The castled nut was recalcitrant but came off at the sight of a breaker bar. I gave the drop arm a bit of a wiggle and there's absolutely no play in it, I wiggled the ball joint around and it was smooth and well...

    Steering slack

Thanks, I'll take a look. Is it necessary to have the front of the vehicle lifted to do the job? That might not be all that convenient for me right now.

    Steering slack

Now I'm not sure what one of those is but some Googling tells me that'd be the bit on the left hand side of one of the rods, with the rubber gaiter that in my case is split and looks like sh*t? That could be a good candidate. :D

    Woops, '93, 200tdi.

    Steering slack

The steering in my Defender is feeling a little slack. The mechanic did mention it last time it went through it's MOT (I would say "but it's a land rover" but he did work for a LR dealer once upon a time). Where should I look for the source of the slack? It doesn't appear to be in thre system...

    Fitting an Exmoor cubby box

I'm getting tired with my collection of tat flying from the passenger seat when on the odd occasion I use the brakes and I don't have any midget friends, so I figure it's time to replace the centre seat with a cubby box. The basic Exmoor Trim ones look just the job. I'll store aware the centre...

    Heated windscreen washer jet

It's been a while since I thought about such things but I'd have thought that once the heat has conducted through the casing of the water reservoir the heat will mainly be transfered throughout the "water" by convection rather than conduction (which probably doesn't work so well down the hoses)...

    Alternators, belts, jiggery pokery

It's a good job that I'm a bit of a wimp then! ;) Is it easier to work these bolts from above or below? Can you not get a smaller grinder in there?

could it be just the arm

... and loosen the nut first without completely removing it, before yanking at the wheel to put it off :D

    Alternators, belts, jiggery pokery

Thanks that's starting to make sense, and fits with the symptoms I was seeing before it died. I'll see if I can tension the belt a little at the weekend, but otherwise I'm not as worried as I was =) Since I've learnt too much about how batteries work, I may at some point go and teach myself a...

could it be just the arm

I've not done it myself but I don't think it's any more difficult than any of the other switches. I think you need to remove one of them before the other - test it with a multimeter =)

    Heated windscreen washer jet

You could mount a sieve on the mirror instead. You could get an early start on your cake making this way.

    Alternators, belts, jiggery pokery

Thanks. I didn't think that removing the radiator made sense =) And in this case the workshop manual was a lot clearer. So they were just being awkward placing the belts in that order? Grrr ;-)
