    Broken down...any clues?

Sorry to come in so late on this one but my 1999MY TD5 had near the exact same issue, it was a failed ECU / oil in the injector loom as the cause. On here is my write up of the problem / diagnosis, ECU testing repaired my unit with a life guarantee with limitations, no re programming is...

    ABS shuttle valve fault

Hello all...I've just resolved this most written about fault on my 1999MY Defender TD5, but thought i would share my issue with all owners of similar year / model. I had 2 lights ABS & TC both wouldn't go out stationary or above 5mph, my primitive code reader tells me "shuttle valve fault." Read...

    90 TD5 Hub Bearing replacement

I had no choice to replace it again but this time i did it up till it was tight then spun the hub a few times and then a little tweek till my arm said "its done up," no issues after that (4yrs...

    No fuel pump purge ?

Didn't receive any replies on this issue but hey ho!!! So after 3 weeks I decided to have a dig around....only noticeable thing on the drive was "down on power" when at 50mph and accelerating up an incline (felt like firing on 3 cylinders). Started at the fuel pump NO 12v....checked both fuses...

    No fuel pump purge ?

This is strange.....for the last week or so ive noticed that on startup in the morning when keyed to pos 2 and waiting for the glow plug light to go off, i no longer hear the fuel pump purge? The TD5 still starts with no issue, still plenty of pulling power through the gears so.......why no...

    Puma or TD5? Newbie questions

I suppose if i was to trade the Landy in for FIAT 500 then i would notice the price difference in fuel costs, but then i would want to hang myself from the nearest tree for doing it !! In regards to the government "cracking down," i would guess the thousands of military Landy's being driven on...

    Puma or TD5? Newbie questions

I've owned my TD5 for near 6 years and i wouldn't part with it as i love it...in fact 13 prospective buyers have......stopped me in the street, asked at traffic lights, at the shops, at landy meets, at work even an MOT man begged me to sell it to him !!! As for running costs.... "cheap," to date...

    Td5 steering drop arm...

Er, yes. I was looking to put it back on again, though. That would certainly work if I get desperate - maybe weld up the slot when it’s back on? Why??? They are a cheap enough replacement and without forgetting this part forms part of the steering !!!!!

    Td5 steering drop arm...

I've done this on my TD5...took me 3 days in all to get the bu**er off, working on it till dark after work!! In the end i used a thin blade in an angle grinder being very very very carefull not to go so deep and hit the splines....when you have cut a deep enough slot bang a sharp ended chisel in...

    TD5, dead at the key.

I had similar issues and spent 5 days fathering out why it wouldn't start... My issue was ECU....one thing I did learn very quickly was almost every control circuit is +ve supplied and switched to -ve by the modules. As your not getting a turn on the key your investigation should start at the...

    Where does this go ?

I'll have a look tomorrow if the new top pin has an oil seal fitted around the abs sensor.....other than that I didn't do anything with the stub axle I pulled it & the drive shaft out and just pushed it back in when the ball was fitted. I replaced the stub axle bearing 2 yrs ago and it's only...

100% correct that's where it goes, I just looked at the old bit in the bin and there it is where the sensors pushes in....thank you...thank you.

    Where does this go ?

Looking for some guidance as to where this goes? The RHS front swivel leaking like a sieve so I've purchased a new ball and the fitting kit that goes with it for my 1999 TD5 Defender 90 (stake nut type). Its all back together and while cleaning up I've come across this oil seal in one of the...
