Dangers of running with centre diff locked

Hey guys... Not been on for a while, but I've currently got a bit of a problem with the landy. What's up with it is that it simply won't drive with the centre differential open. When you try the front propshaft simply spins and you go nowhere. So, I tried locking the centre diff and it drives...

Jacked it up, got ready to remove the wheel, found alot of sidewards (if you get what I mean) play in the wheel. Take this means a wheel bearing? Then removed wheel, on one of the bolts just behind the wheel, lots and lots of crap there, looked like congealed oil mixed with circlips. Currently...

Landy does a good job! But gets a little tired towards the end...

Just been on a holiday, which involved driving all the way to Southampton with no stops. Then three days later, driving all the way back up, with no stops. The trips over 190 miles each way. So there was 4 of us travelling down. 3 with cars. Me with a Defender 110 SW TD5, a vauxhall corsa...

Landy needs a new ECU :( What a bitch of a thing to happen. Apparently the "top switch" has gone. But he found no evidence of it going because of water/oil damage! What the hell could of happened to it? Any ideas? And what the hells is a "top switch"?

    Advice on buying a TD5

Just putting a sorry for my earlier post. I saw this thread at the wrong time. Mine had just got towed away on a tow truck after 4 unsuccessful days to get it working :( So Wasn't in the best mood with TD5s when I saw this.

    Advice on buying a TD5

Don't. For ease and simplicity with slightly lower cruising speeds, I'd go for a 300TDI. That's from someone with a TD5. I've had several problems, from a 2000 model year and they were supposedly getting rid of bugs in the ECU up to 2003. But even then, you get a problem, and it's a b1tch to...

    I did busteded it agin!

Oil under the seat. Well. I'll speak like an idiot now. Because I don't know the technical terms, so I'll make it nice and easy so even I can understand :P The ECU under the drivers seat is a silver box. It has a red multiplug and a black multiplug going into it. In the red multiplug, one half...

OK. Well. So far I've... Replaced fuel filter Replaced air filter (it's a diesel so...ya know) Ran purging system umpteen times Cleaned ECU wires with a cloth. But ECU wires. On the side of the ECU its very oily. On the side of the wires which plugs into the ECU, its not. I take it this is a...
