    Newby 300TDI or TD5?

300s are great machines if you can find a fairly low mileage late one, injector pump on the auto 300 is ecu controlled but very rudementry usually no problem, td5 obviously computer controlled everywhere but with a nanocom around £200 diagnostics not to bad, and they are still a relatively...

New TD5 how long will it last?

personally i dont think discos are any more trouble than any other offering, there is just more of them around and there owners tend to get more involved with them so forums such as this are busy places because lets face it all motors go wrong you just get to hear about it more, with the landies...

    TDV6 or TD5

well i hate to upset the apple cart, but the disco3 is not as good as the td5 for towing, it is more powerful but eats fuel at an alarming rate, the offroad capability is not as good largely down to the fact that with independant suspension when the wheels are up the diff is down, nuttalls...

    td5 throttle response

i have a td5 registered in 2000, my question is when started from cold the throttle response is exellent very crisp sound from the engine but as the engine warms up the response seems to diminish i.e. a greater amount of throttle pressure is required for the same result, engine still runs fine...

300 tdi auto only does 22 mpg

you dont say what type of driving is being undertaken, i had a 300tdi auto for a number of years put about 200.000 miles on it no real problems other than urban style driving will suck up the juice, lots of motor to lug up to speed however on a reasonable run with some larger roads to keep up a...

looking at disco as family car

we had a 300 auto for 8 years never a hint of a problem, serviced every 4000 miles on semi synthetic engine oil, was as good on the day it went as when we bought it, down side rust, then had a pajero great little motor but economy not its strong point, now back with a td5 so far so good totally...

    effects of a remap

i was planning to have my 2000 td5 remapped for economy and torque, but having read a few reviews am now not so certain, the main reason being that some have described the power being much more turbo dependant i.e. more revs required to get going which is exactly what i dont want, mine pulls...

    Racor filters

being a marine engineer we come across these regularly they are expensive gut there simply is not an alternative especially to the heated models which remove all water from the fuel, filter is very easy to change no rebleeding etc. they come in various micron sizes for the filter my advice go...

    re egr valve

i have taken the egr valve off my disco some while ago but i got thinking the other day how does it work or how is it meant to work, do the gases pass from the exhaust into the manifold or the other way around, if the former is the case how does it overcome the pressure generated by the turbo in...
