Lowering steering column, height of steering wheel

This idea wouldn't have come to me had it not been for a friend telling me about the mods he is doing with his old mini, apparently there is a kit/bracket available to lower the steering column on those little things to a more comfortable height. My TD5 steering wheel feels a little high for me...

Will 13cm speakers fit in TD5 dash (5.25")?

I'm sure this has been asked before but search revealed nothing.. The TD5 dash apparently has a bit more space behind the speakers than the earlier models. Anyone fitted 5.25" (13cm) speakers fit in the hole using adapters? will the speakers need to be spaced out at all? Thanks guys Oli

Or if anyone has a full sports exhaust available that would also be perfect, but seems less likely! Thanks!

TD5 straight through exhaust sections wanted

Hi guys, I'd like to remove the cat and centre box from my TD5 90, does anyone have either (or both) of these straight-through replacement sections for sale? Pickup or courier collection can be arranged from anywhere really. The down pipe from a pre-cat TD5 would be just as good, either...

Sodbury sortout in october, what's it like these days

Hi guys, I've not been to a sortout in Newbury for years now. Back in 2006 it was massive, ques for hours getting in, Land Rovers all broken down along the motorway, great stuff. Then I think it shut down soon after (got too big?) and 'moved' to Beaulieu which was terribly disappointing. I've...

    G4 Orange

I don't know if this a local phenomenon or not but the local vehicle paint shop guys I use were able to mix up some perfect Atlantic Green for me in 2k. And it looks great. try having a quick search for a local auto paint supplier. I'm near southampton btw.

    god help me with insurance!

Just a thought: My policy only cost £500 with a classic car policy when I was 18 but I didn't get any no claims bonus. I had this policy for a few years (and it got cheaper every year), and when i changed to normal insurance it was a little bit more expensive but i saved an awful lot over the 3...

    god help me with insurance!

When I was 18 fresh after passing my test I started driving my 1968 Series 2 as my first car. I used Footman James, the only insurer who would cover me at that age for a classic car policy. This was in 2005 and cost £500 for the year. I think the car has to be 15 years or older, so not...

Just replaced the rear UJ - too small??

I used the 2p trick in my V8 110 a few years ago. They're still whizzing around in there without problems, but I wouldn't recommend it! But not many fixes cost just 16p on a Land Rover!

Removing modular wheel centres and replacing with standard LR wheel centres...

That IS amazing, exactly what I need, standard look, great width and even put tubeless safety band in. Thanks for the link!

Removing modular wheel centres and replacing with standard LR wheel centres...

Ok I'm not really asking about legality/safety here, more if it's possible. Wheel banding would be good but I'd like tubeless rims. It's not actually illegal, nor is using wheels without TUV/CE making etc, they just have to be up to the job, ie. welded by a professional. Thanks

Removing modular wheel centres and replacing with standard LR wheel centres...

They already accept 'widened aftermarket wheels', it's no different. The amount of weld the standard steels use is tiny. Or they are held together with rivets, I would have thought a decent amount of weld would make them stronger than the originals

Removing modular wheel centres and replacing with standard LR wheel centres...

Ok so I know some people like to reverse the centres of disco rims to get extra offset. Anyone heard of removing the centres of modular rims and replacing them with standard LR steel centres? The idea being to get wide rims but keeping the original wheel look, and being able to fit tubeless...

Set of standard Defender steel wheel rims near Salisbury. Or London..

Thanks for the link. I did an ebay search and found a full set just 30 mins from me, with tyres, and won them for £1.20!! I guess people aren't interesting in standard wheels!
