Lowering steering column, height of steering wheel

This idea wouldn't have come to me had it not been for a friend telling me about the mods he is doing with his old mini, apparently there is a kit/bracket available to lower the steering column on those little things to a more comfortable height. My TD5 steering wheel feels a little high for me liking, and just obstructs my view above the bonnet. Anyone know if there is a way to lower the column down towards the knees? A smaller steering wheel would help to a certain extent but not quite what i'm thinking.

No kit available, never come across anyone having done it (or wanted to do it).
The column is bolted to the top of the footwell so the angle is determined by that.

If a smaller wheel won't do it why not fit seat riser rails?

My god how short are you?! Perhaps a nice cushion to sit on would be a cheaper and easier option
