    Guess what this is ??

I was working at Land Rover at this time when Honda had a 20% stake in Rover Group. If my memory serves me correctly, it was the first time that Honda sold a vehivle not made by them selves. Honda had no input to anything that we did at Land Rover unlike the cars division although we used some...

    Oil Consumption

Now then, I don't think a litre of oil would fit in the ecu!! Topped it up on monday and so far done +500km. Logic would say that if I lost a litre in 1000km then the oil should have dropped in 500km......checked it last night and it hasn't moved. If I was burning a litre in 1000km, I would...

    Oil Consumption

Ok, just to answer some of the questions. The truck has done 178,000km. No, I don't have a wading plug in the bell housing and it's an Auto. "Ryperd" (for those non-south Africans, this means horse) pulls like a train and performance is ok returning 9+ km/liter fuel. So I'm a bit baffled...

    Oil Consumption

My TD5 seems to be using a lot of oil. I've put a litre in over the last 1000km. There are no obvious signs of leaking, no blue smoke etc. Anyone got any ideas?

    Hi from South Africa

Although I've posted a couple of questions, I'v haven't yet introduced myself. I worked at Land Rover UK for 22years on various projects (110 coil sprung, disco I, P38, Disco II focussing mainly on Interior. Moved to South Africa in '99 with L/R as we were sourcing the leather seat covers from...

    EGR ........again!

Hi all, I've just blanked off the EGR on my TD5. Question is, do I need to dis-connect the vacuum pipe as well? Must say the performance seems to be better and my consumption also looks better although it's only the first tank since doing it.

    Sheared bolt... Oops!

Did the same thing on Saturday. Removed the pipe and fitted the blanking plate. The existing cap head screws looked a little short as the plate is 6mm thick, so I changed the screw and it sheared as I was tightening it up (promise you I did not torque it too much). Only answer was to...

    Disco II coolant loss

Anyone give me some guidance? I have just bought a Disco II TD5 170000km, full service history and almost mint condition. However, I notice that the coolant level drops quite quickly. Done the usual checks for leaks etc but nothing visible. The oil is ok with no signs of emulsifying so I think...
