did have a similar problem with my MGZS, when i got a HPI check and every time the reg was typed in at a parts shop and when i rang the AA it came up a diesel which it wasn't! so its not just in the LR office its next door in the MG department that haven't got a clue what there doing!! :D

apparently you can lock the fly wheel if you have a tool- ill find out when mines done at the weekend!

sorry to gate crash ya post but talking of autocrap, couple of years ago they replaced a smashed window on my motor after it was broken into at my mums, after he had done the job he got into his van on my mums sloped drive put it in first instead of reverse and smashed mi mums porch down!!! :eek:

big bar on the socket pulling the tensioner is easier, or get someone to do the tensioner bit while you get two hands on the job. failing that loosen the tensioner mount a bit so the whole thing turns a bit- don't forget to re set it and tighten it back up once you're done!

sounds like it would have been cheaper to buy a little fiesta if you're looking for good mpg! :D :p

hello, 235/70/16, all standard- well apart from egr and fan binned and clean filters etc... mine showed just as the pictures show, there is slight vary in the clock and what the sat nav says

that's what i said!!! apparently they don't use a broken hammer shaft any more to seek out noises its clips and sensors! was near impossible to locate the sound before while stood still and it started the same day as the cooler clean so i- and him were looking in the wrong areas!! timing kit is...

just come back on the motorway - flat, no head or tail wind 60mph at a c**k hair under 2000rpm '98 disco, no mods just a clean air filter..don't ask about the mpg i have stopped calculating as it scares me!!!

timing belt kit ordered:D got professional help coming to me!!!!:D finally got my cousin to give me a hand with it! (LR mechanic after all!) he did take a look before but unable to pin point the problem without spending loads of brass on there fancy machines! :p so hopefully it will be sorted...

know water and bearings dont go- thought they might be other damage to be done? been away in it for a few days, the screech is no worse but theres a 'metallic' whistle now when idling from behind the casing and gets louder when revved. so must be in there then! how big or t**t of a job is it...

wouldn't have thought so but you never know its possible with all the rain and puddles we've had lately! what sort of damage would that cause if water got in?
