Liking the blocked breather idea, before the work the end caps were missing and the diff would have been breathing feely via them, now well greased and sealed once hot would push out via the weakest point.
yep, all gaskets replaced, I've now replaced the dust cap twice as they keep cracking when it starts leaking again.
and is is coming from the cap area not from the between the drive flange and the hub.
Looks a bit pretty BUT, recently replaced stub axle, hub bearings brakes etc was fine for a week or so now it is chucking oil out via the shaft and stub axle. Anyone tell me why? What stops the Diff oil from coming out that route all the time?????
kind of feel about 9yrs old reading this thread,
With what would you do if,,,,, zombie,,,,elephant gun,,,,,, octopus,,,,couldn't move,,,,,for your life stories.

Cheers fr al the advice, might mull it over my Brother has the grinder at mo so not gonna get near it till Sunday.
Not a fan of winches so never see myself fitting a a bumper that requires one.......hmmm....
sell my 90!!! I'd rather stick wasps up my ar$e!!
Bumper only cost me £50 anyway so never likely to get too precious over it.
Grinding at dawn tommorow, T minus 12hrs and counting.....
Nope just cooking dinner,
The bumper is fitted correctly I'd need to do a darn site more with the angle grinder if it weren't.
Only thing I am looking to fit soon is a steering guard but guess that'll be bolted via the tie down bolts which I intend to leave in place.
Thanks for the thoughts...
Fitting up a new tubular front bumper and the jacking points at the end of the chassis are a little unsightly and not required with the new bumper having jacking holes already in it.
So do i need to consider keeping them or cut them off as far as the tie down bolts?
Pro's and Cons?
Ta
I'm doing the ignore it till i can afford it route at present and that has lasted since November, was going to do it this month till the rear wheel bearing exploded and ended up rebuilding the rear axle.
Sounds like the clutch release bearing, mine rattles and whines like a bastard and I need to get on it soon.
As for the lights, short somewhere check bulb holders for rot etc.
cheers for all the advise, I've tried the rub down and tapping it on, Checked back with the parts guy who has offered to look at it so gonna take it down there, otherwise mate has offered to chuck it in the lathe and mill a little off.
So new stub axle on back of my Defender 90, albeit a disco rear axle.
the Stub axle is a fag paper thicker than the inner diameter of the bearing!!!
Why!!!
Is it just that it is the wrong part, is it cause its Allmakes and not genuine, is it that I'm expected to grind it down? All parts...
Left the Defender, with two sheared stub axle bolts, in my Brother-in-laws Joinery workshop, bless him got a call at 3pm 'I'm bored, can i have a go at getting your bolts out?' 'Fill your boots' I said, now just got to clean everything up and slot back together tomorrow afternoon:D
