freelander1 06 wheels and tyres help!!

All I know is that from much reading and reasearch etc, that you dont want mess around with the rolling circumference of a Freelander. For that reason, when I wanted to do the same as you, I bought some 16" wheels from a lower spec model, but the same year, and then bought some General Grabber...

    Is it me...or..

Its the tyres. I just changed mine from Synchrones to general Grabber AT2s and the difference is utterly amazing. It will barely loose grip unless you REALLY try.

front brake problem when driving in snow

I reckon its your ABS and its doing what it should. On snow (or ice) there is often zero grip, so the ABS is activated immediately, resulting in the hard pedal and no stopping. All ABS does is allow you to steer when stamping on the brakes and in actual fact stopping distances are longer...

    off road / snow-ice tyres

Plus, there are loads of 16" AT/MT tyres around, so you could use your current wheels.

    off road / snow-ice tyres

Just check they fit first-I am led to believe that post 2001 cars need different wheels to the pre 2001s. I had to search for some 16"s for my 2005, and only the later wheels fitted correctly. Having said all that, I was after 16" alloys, not steels. Phil

    Fat man, high seat....

    Fat man, high seat....

I quite like the Freelander, I think its a great car. Except for one thing..... I am not particulaly tall (5'11) but have quite a long body and am quite fat, and find the seat is way too high. My head touches the roof and I feel like I am sitting on it rather than in it. I would like to adopt...

    Advice on freelander steel wheels

Thanks for the reply! How does it behave on road with the new tyres on? The Mrs needs to be able to use it for work every day, which is 17 miles each way. And I also assume that you have had no other issues? Basically I will be driving across muddy fields, sometimes towing a trailer as...

    Advice on freelander steel wheels

Hi All, Just joined-see my " hello" thread :D I have a question about wheels, so I thought this topic was the best place. The car has 225/55/17 Michekins, on, but i want some ATs, and they not really available in that size, as I am sure you know. If I were to buy a set of 15" wheels, what...
