I have a JCB cartridge gun, and that itself is fine. It's just the coupling that seems to be rubbish. It holds the nipple quite well, but fails to seal properly and so the grease oozes out from the connector.

I greased my propshafts today and I ended up with more grease oozing out from the end of the coupler than went into the shafts. Does anyone have a recommendation for a coupler that doesn't leak too much?

How do I drain the ACE and PAS systems ready to fill with new fluid? I can't see any obvious drain plugs.

I've left it for a while. It takes a few more turns of the crank to start, that's all. Highest concentration i've tried is 3:1 diesel to waste oil.

I've dumped old engine oil, dif oil, gearbox oil etc into my TD5 fuel tank after a service. Filtered first of course. No troubles at all.

I've done some playing with a pic, a keypad and some relays and have a basic system that will not allow the engine to start unless the correct code is entered, but there's still the tow away element to contend with.

I'm curious as to the methods used in pinching a TD5, purely because i'd like to figure a way out of making it harder to have one pinched. If all the "normal" methods of taking a TD5 involve fooling the ecu that a valid key is present and starting the car, then perhaps isolating the inductive...

I periodically read about folks having their TD5s pinched and wonder... The TD5 alarm/key combination seems reasonably secure, so how are the tea leaves taking them away?

Yes. Auxiliary belt removed and glow plugs out and it will only turn through about 10 degrees and then returns to start point when starter is disengaged.

I tried to turn it over yesterday with the glow plugs removed, but it didn't want to turn over. Is the head likely to require skimming when it's refitted or are 300tdi heads a hardy breed?

Wouldn't turning the engine over with the glow plugs removed overcome that and simply throw the water out if it was there?

I put the negative lead on the engine when i tried to jump start it. I'll try to manually spin the crank next time i'm at the outlaws. The discovery is on their drive at the moment.

I've acquired a 300tdi disco 1 as a donor and was hoping to use the R380 along with its engine on to a galavanised chassis. It all needs another coat of looking at it seems. Thanks for the info gents
