    Keyfob range

Thanks Dopey, i'll try that. It'd be really fancy to operate with the remote :)

    Keyfob range

Heh, doublelocking. Haven't seen that yet :) A little offtopic, does anyone's seem to operate the sunroof and windows via remote when holding lock button for 2 seconds? Mine seems to do it only via driver's door lock.

    Keyfob range

The range on mine depends greatly of the environment. If it's parked in the woods, far from any interference, it operates from about 8-10m. Usually, it operates from about 3m. Sometimes it doesn't work at all (remote controlled crane operating 10m from the car, wi-fi hotspot on a wall above the...

    Vibration / judder at 49mph and 70mph

Mine does the same. It started about two months ago, when one of my front tires leaked and i drove with 0.8 bar pressure for cca 100km. That may have triggered something, dunno. Another reason that i can think of is that i've torn one of the CV gaiters when i did the wheel bearing about 5000km...

    Brake Click

The pedal on mine clicked when i bought it. It did so for 10 months, but stopped after i freed the stuck caliper guide slider on one of the calipers. Brakes feel totally different (softer) now, but the power is all there. Check the sliders, pads and discs before you spend cash on other things...

    Fob problems - engine disabled

I guess that all the others on here are bankers and i scared them a little bit ;) Well, you should be a banker if you want to afford rangie maintenance anyway...

    Fob problems - engine disabled

Datatek: i thought the 1995 had a passive immobiliser and couldn't immagine what could go wrong with the passive chip inside a key to stop working intermittently. I knew it has one, just do not know how exactly it operates. And sadly, i don't have anyone around with a blackbox to disable the...

    Fob problems - engine disabled

Hi, i'm having a bit of a ongoing problem with my rangie. First, both keys and fobs operated normally, they had fresh batteries 9 months ago and everything (well, not everything, it's a Range Rover afterall) was ok. At one point, 4 months ago, Key 1 gradually lost it's ability to...

New to range rover, please help!!

Leak off pipes are under the plastic cover on top of the engine. First undo the three 5mm inbus bolts on the serpentine belt cover and take it off, then undo the one 5mm inbus bolt on the remaining plastic cover and pry it out towards you. Underneath you'll see injectors, which are linked to...

New to range rover, please help!!

Mine, with 315k km on the clock, starts in the first second if being cool. If the car was driven before, it can take about 2-3 seconds of cranking before it starts with a black puff of smoke :) Had a complete FIP overhaul about 15k km ago. Still have to change leak off pipes. As for pipes, they...

    Traction Control.

Mine, budget spec'd 1995 DT for italian market sure doesn't have TC. As for LSD, doubt it, but I'd be pretty happy if it's true :) will take a look at owner's manual...

New to range rover, please help!!

You forgot to add the link  here is the microcat picture of both ECUs, left is the auto transmission ECU, right is the transfer box or hi/lo ECU. Looking under the passenger seat, the hi/lo ECU is mounted on top of the auto transmission ECU. Hi/lo is also smaller, and it's got a classic...

New to range rover, please help!!

Be careful, there are two separate ECU-s, one for the auto transmission, the other one for transfer box/low gear. Transfer box ECU has to be for diesel automatic. Don't know about transmission ECU, as i have a manual.

New to range rover, please help!!

Regarding gear change motor: it could be one (or both, the second usually causes the first) of two things: 1. Fried transfer case ECU. It's a silver metal box under the passenger seat, with a Borg-Warner written on it. Smell it :) if it smells of bakelite, it's probably fried. Get used one from...

    P38 wheel nuts torque

I did it exacty as you said. Tightened everything gradually in a star-like pattern, first on the lift, then lowered to ground and rechecked. Now i remember, i didn't clean the threads of the lugs, but AFAIK they should be lubed a little with copper grease, don't they?

    P38 wheel nuts torque

Replaced wheels when doing discs and torqued all wheel nuts to specified 110 Nm. After about 100 km the car started to shake slightly, i expected another drivetrain issue discovered but found out left front wheel nuts were on the point of falling off the thread end. Retightened the nuts on all...

    P38a brake wobble

Last update. Bought a lifetime supply tube of Bosch Superlube for disc brakes, 6€. Cleaned the unstuck pin with wire brush on a grinder, sanded with 150 sandpaper, lubed, reassembled everything. First impressions: - i was obviously running on backup circuit from last NY when i bought the...

    P38a brake wobble

A little update. Changed left front disc and pads, everything ok. When i dismantled right caliper bracket i realised the rear pin is completely frozen solid by massive amounts of rust. It took me 3 hours with a blowtorch, 5kg hammer, a lot of rust remover spray, pretty large vice and whole...

    P38a brake wobble

Yep, i've changed right front wheel bearing and the left one doesn't seem too bad (no play in the wheel), so i hope there will be no surprises at that front. I'm changing front discs and pads this evening and report back. Another question, how much free play in the rear axles is OK? I can...

    P38a brake wobble

Thanks, i thought so. I'll change front discs and pads. Hope that's all, it's getting expensive for my current status... :D
