How the monkey turds do I get the mirror glass off, to hopefully (if it's just as simple as) re-hook up the mechanism to the motor? My passenger side mirrors all floppy but I can hear the motor running that 'should' be moving/holding it. But for the life of me I can't get the bugger off...

Do a search for electric windows fix on here, took me about 15 mins to sort mine with a bit of soldering the other day. I'm guessing the door lock spring has gone, can you open the door if you hold the latch up? If yes then you can get the springs on ebay for next to nothing. When mine...

Well actually mine, had the same size hole in the same place and failed due to a previous owner filling it with "metal filling crap" I got the hole welded up inside and a plate welded over the hole under the arch. Cost me £40 and an hour without the car and it flew straight through on it's...

It's failed today for having a hole about an inch and a half wide under the rear wheel arch, which needs welding somehow. It has had a repair on the inside of the rear door on the same arch which they didn't like. Some previous owner filled a hole about the size of a 50p coin with chemical...

Just as an extra question, if this was failing and ticking along with the symptoms I've listed, would this appear to prevent the revs from going further than say 3500rpm?

A quick google search only brings up a 'brake vacuum pump'. Is that what people are suggesting? I will go down the oil change route first anyhow, t'was actually on my to do list for this weekend so we shall see if it solves it quite soon.

I haven't had it very long really, about 2 months I think so haven't got around to valve check. Will try replacing the vacuum pump and hope for the best.

I've finally got the old bugger running at a close to normal pace :) But....... It seems to have developed a fairly loud tick/tap/rough sounding noise between 2500rpm and 3500rpm under acceleration :doh: Strange thing is.... It's fine when cold and only starts happening when the engine...

As the title says.........whilst under the car today I noticed that there's an open thread/bolt hole just to the front of the gearbox and three in a T shape just slightly further back. I'm a bit more curious about the first but wondered what they all are for?
