Ok, see if any of you guys have any ideas on this one; On my defender 110 v8 (twin SU carbs, electric pump with return fuel line), starts rumbly but picks up ok, when warm runs ok but on going around a corner coughs, takes a few seconds to come back but then runs fine till the next corner...

Just wondered where you guys that have series V8's get your insurance from? I keep getting plenty of quotes around £100 then as soon as i say its not standard- its a V8, they say its modified and the price shoots upto over £400:eek:

On my 110 V8 it has a 6 bolt steering box thats leaking bad. It failed MOT but managed to steady the leak with Wynns power steering stop leak enough to get a pass. Trouble is its still drippin on the drive and the missus is off nuts:( Anyone know if its possible to change the rear shaft...

Cheers buster, looks like the ones! While i got it all appart i`m gonna replace the ball- its a bit pitted and leakin. I got a start strippin it lastnight, everything seems to come off ok but the boltheads fastening the ball to axle look like they`re gonna be a pig to get out- the heads...

Just a quickie so as i know where to start, anyone tell me if i need to take the swivel housin off to change the top pin bush? Oh, its 1986 v8 110. Its the one with a two bolt pin cap and a bush-not needle bearin!

If i remember correctly the VMs had individual heads, ie, 1 head per pot.

Well, its carb engine. Seems if you dont rev it on start up it`ll stay on 4 for ages, but as you say, a few seconds at 1500- 2000rpm and it soon clears. Sounds like i need to check timing first! Just need a stobe now! Its done 135k so i suppose its earned a chain if it comes to it!

Ive just about finished the rebuild on my 110 V8. I replaced plugs, leads, cap and rotor arm (no points). The motor starts easily, but only on 4 pots, Nos 3,5, 2 & 8. It then clears after a few seconds to run very smooth and revs up as it should. But, when trying to drive it, it will rev...

Needed some fluid for the v8 110,(for brake and clutch) so had a look and saw on one of the caps it said DOT3 so off i went to Halfords, just thought i`d check in the book.........yep it says DOT4! Anyone know for sure? Cheers, Pete.

On with the rebuild of my 110 v8 I`ve managed to get it rebuilt other than the body so thought it was time to check it would start now ive got the bulkhead finished. I put some fuel in, stuck a battery on and up she struck, only trouble is there is no oil pressure! After around 30 seconds...

The td5 is different, the filler neck is smaller(and made of plastic) and therefore the hole in the panel is smaller. You need the one for your year!
