Is a MOT new every time?

My tester tells me my front nearside bearing has play... about every other year. I've never touched it!

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

I like the idea of the manual cutoff for the secondary battery in addition to the relay. In fact I think motorhomes and caravans can do this from thier leisure electrics control panel.

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

I think this link may give some ideas, and suggests that there is more to a split charge relay than just a switch: Kemo Lead Acid Battery Split Charge Module | Maplin To quote: "Using this module it is possible to charge two 6-24V lead acid batteries (e.g. car batteries) from the same power...

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

Strange. I wonder if they think you are using them to give 24 volts, which I could envisage giving problems due to uneven power drains.

    Back in time.

I believe it is quite a lot more work than just the mounts - floor pan and bulkhead changes I believe. Also doesn't the fuel system come up the other side? And I think there may be instrumentation differences. Sell the Disco to somebody who wants a 200, and buy a recon engine for the Defender.

"Both batteries must be the same type"?

I think he has what you might call a "manual split charge system" - there is a switch to disconnect the second battery from the first, so that it can be used for suply when the engine is off without flattening both. I note that if you are towing a caravan and charging the caravan battery via a...

How far would £50 get me?

On my 3.9 softdash I find that lpg cuts between a quarter and a third off fuel bills, depending on type of driving. Towing my small caravan seems to make no difference at all.

What's the best way to acquire a new Land Rover?

Buying any car new is a mugs game - you lose thousands as soon as you sign the paperwork. Just look at the purchase price of a 2 year old against new. Find a good secondhand, and take out a private warranty if you feel the need. I did very nicely out of this a few years back when the company...

    Hire a 300tdi CSW?

That's probably what I will do, if I can't find anywhere else.

    Hire a 300tdi CSW?

Dead right Trax. I used to do that kind of thing - and probably then party half the night and crash on somebody's floor. Doesn't look such an exciting idea nowadays!

    Hire a 300tdi CSW?

Problem is that their location is 3 hours from me (whatever Google says). That means a 6 hour day on top of any driving in the Defender. This means a hotel, which bumps the cost. Hence the other locations where I will actually be visiting anyway. I realise I am probably looking for a rare...

    Hire a 300tdi CSW?

Before I leap ahead and purchase a Defender, I'm looking to see if I can hire one for a day or two, stack up some miles on various sorts of roads, and check that I can live with it for the longer term - a test drive up the road and back doesn't really tell you that. What I am looking for is a...

Coolant connecting pipe o-ring - where to buy?

Yes, buy one of those kits - you will find a use for them quite often - on car and otherwise. If you've got a set, then you will not be tempted to reuse one just because you haven't got a replacement to hand!

    110 iNTERIOR DIMENSIONS

The reasons for a CSW are several; Mostly it will be used as just that - meaning that I will need the second row seats. Rear benches can come out and go in the lockup. A commercial will cost twice the price on toll bridges, and there is also the London charge. I have a 2-door runabout, and...

    110 iNTERIOR DIMENSIONS

I am planning on getting a 300tdi Station Wagon, which I want to use as an occasional camping vehicle. Plan is to put a double bed in the back, and a small motorhome awning on the back or side. So, if I take out all the seats apart from the front 2, how long a space would I have, and how wide...

battery terminal points under the bonnet

I think I would also fancy getting a spare plug to put in the socket when not in use - thus keeping the contacts clean.
