Another Ebay 'darling'. Legit or blatant ringer?

This is not a Series chassis You can tell by the rear cross member, there's no big round hole in it to allow use of a rear power take-off. Most often you see the towing electrics socket mounted in the hole. Also you can see that the vehicle has coil sprung axles (wider than Series axles...

    defender driver door bargain

Obviously a business use vehicle, but if it has been replaced after being damaged you would think that a bare door would have been purchased and then sprayed and built up using the fittings from the damaged door. Perhaps it's been replaced by an already complete, used door of the correct colour...

    Bonnet Lock confusion

They were fitted to the Land Rover 110 stage one V8 when they first launched them. The model before they started calling 110's and 90's Defender.

    Carpenters with 90's

I have carried lengths of wood molding in a Series III 88" station wagon. Put them in through the back door and poked them out through the passenger bulkhead vent as I never fitted fly screens when I rebuilt it. I tied the forward end of the moldings to the wing mirror and made a big pad out...

    Mystery connectors under centre seat

Are you able to trace these extra leads under the centre seat area to see if they are coming out of the main harness ? If so, does it look as if they were grafted into the harness, or part of the original equipment. Or are they separate from the main harness and leading off perhaps to one of...

    Plenty spare parts

Don't count your chickens before the're hatched. The vehicles should all be chained down in case of heavy seas, unless the crew have not done their job. Any damaged vehicles will be sold to the motor trade and not to scrap yards.

    Mystery connectors under centre seat

Yes, it was an optional extra. If you were to buy the immobiliser from a Land Rover dealer to fit it yourself, you would have had 2 sets of fitting instructions. One to fit it to a Defender, and the other to fit to a Disco. Same system. Take a look in your battery compartment and see if...

    Mystery connectors under centre seat

    Attempted Theft Defender 90!!

If I were you I'd invest in an Ardase pedals lock as well. Belt and braces ! Buying time ! I think they will be back, probably will cut your battery cable this time.

    Nightmare day !!! MOT No2!!!

Don't you check over your vehicles before you go for M.O.T ? I started doing this years ago using a spare check sheet that the tester gave me, and I've been doing a pre- M.O.T check ever since. Obviously, I have had to add extra checks to the list as and when the DVLA introduced them. You...

    Mystery connectors under centre seat

The rectangular socket in it's bracket at the front of the seat box is the diagnostic socket.

    NTC2159 Fuel Pipe Assy

This looks just like fuel pickup pipes I have had on Series III tanks. You could remove the gauze, but you need to clean out the tank thoroughly and the be very scrupulous every time you add fuel. If I was you I'd bite the bullet and buy a new pick up pipes and save yourself the risk of any...

    Steering pump?

I had similar issues with my Peugeot. Fluid was at normal level. Turned out to be a faulty steering pump. As soon as I fitted a new one, everything was back to normal and it's been the same for the past 4 months.

    Defender front door

Can't you check out the passenger door ? If it's in better condition you should be able to see what shape the drivers door should be...

    The none rebuild, rebuild thread.

I like the new X member. Nice and thick steel, you won't need to replace that one.

    Rear Worklight Fitting

There's only a few fir tree fasteners holding the trim panel over the back door, lever them out and the panel can be removed. Now you have the access that you need... fit a plate or very large washer inside and one outside. Pass a large bolt through and tighten it to flatten out the ally. Now...

    Roof Condensation

I re-built a Series III some years ago and before buying the correct headlining I decided to stick some form of insulation to the inside of the roof. This was easy as I had the roof off at the time and laid it upside down flat in my garage. I had a part roll of foam backed house carpet...

    Wheels stuck in the tire/tyres??
