    Rock sliders

Hi all, excuse my ignorance. I am slowly renovating my 90 tdi hardtop. The sills are pretty rusty, but still solid. I have been looking through this forum, and have seen a lot of mention of "rock sliders". Qu: what are they? Do they replace existing sills? What would they cost? Thanks...

    waxoyl into bulkhead?

i have recently changed screws on my door hinges for stainless ones. Noticed when I did it that I could if I wanted - squirt a load of waxoyl or similar inside the bulkhead while the hinges were off. Has anyone done this? Is it worth doing? My bulhead corners are pretty good at the moment, a...

    Still got oil leaking......... help

Just in case anybody has the same problems as me here, I have got to the bottom of it. The leaking oil is indeed seeping through the splines of the halshaft. It should be sealed in by the rubber dust cap. The ones I bought from Paddocks (which I thought did not fit) do fit, but they are much...

    Still got oil leaking......... help

I cleared the breather last week, so dont think its that. Interesting question on the cap. I ordered 4 of these : FRC4377R Hub cap - 90in to axle 22S08283B and all 110in from Paddocks, and they don't seem to fit. As far as I can see my rear axle is the same as yours Buster. Do you know...

    Still got oil leaking......... help

I recently had oil leaking from the rear hub of my 1993 90. It was from inside the brake drum, and also out of the end (dust cap) in the middle of the wheel. On a rainy day I got soaked but changed the wheel bearings, seals etc. Now I have just noticed that while I have no leak from inside...

How do I check for hidden bulkhead corrosion

is it easy to remove the mesh inside the vent flaps? If so I could get inside and get some kurust, waxoyl, hammerite in there, and maybe pack some filler in from the inside and then smooth it off from the outside after. At least that would stop some of the water running in that hole?

How do I check for hidden bulkhead corrosion

How do I check for hidden bulkhead corrosion

I have a couple of small holes, one to the side of where the bonnet hinge fixes to the bulkhead, and the other similar in size (about 1cm), where the hinge for the vent flaps is spot welded on. I know I need to deal with these, but how would I be able to check for further hidden bulkhead...

Confused over oil leak from rear hub

Finished the job today, first proper job on the old girl. Anyone else who has this problem, take the time to check the breather on the axle. I found mine was jammed solid. Remove the fitting from the axle, make sure it is clear (mine wasnt) and then blow through the pipe to make sure that is...
