just undo all the bolts (loads across the windscreen) then when you've got them all undone you can stand inside and lift the whole thing off in one, but careful because it wants to tip backwards because of the weight of the back, so the balance point is right at the back of the roof, with it on...

Is the bad earth likely to be on the gearbox harness? Or could it be anywhere?I know there are trillions of earth points, the other thing I checked is the fuse box which seems fine, but I did notice the earth under it seems quite corroded?

Mine has exactly the same problem, has been plugged in and no gearbox faults showing on the computer, its had a new alternator and a new battery, battery fully charged and alternator working as it should... Transmission fluid was clean but did a change for new and new filter aswell, but still...

Must be what the main dealers do, that'd explain the extortionate costs! If it ain't broke don't fix it! I had problem like this, turned out to be a seal in the master cylinder had got flipped round the wrong way under pressure somehow and was letting fluid in but not back out again...

so the corroded starter cable shows up a gearbox fault? I'll check that, that kindof makes sense because the starter has started not working randomly, i thought it needed changing but possibly a bad connection like you say thankyou very much for your help

Thanks for your help, I thought the same but the code first showed up two days after I put a brand new battery on, I've tried taking it off and putting the old one back on but makes no difference... So I must've disturbed something when I fitted it, the alternator is brand new aswell, replaced...
