    Is the bad earth likely to be on the gearbox harness? Or could it be anywhere?I know there are trillions of earth points, the other thing I checked is the fuse box which seems fine, but I did notice the earth under it seems quite corroded?

Transmission fluid was clean but did a change for new and new filter aswell, but still...

    Must be what the main dealers do, that'd explain the extortionate costs! If it ain't broke don't fix it! I had problem like this, turned out to be a seal in the master cylinder had got flipped round the wrong way under pressure somehow and was letting fluid in but not back out again...

    Thanks for your help, I thought the same but the code first showed up two days after I put a brand new battery on, I've tried taking it off and putting the old one back on but makes no difference...
