    Thamks all. I suspected this may be a can of worms :) It seems that although one is desired, there is no 'silver bullet' cure aside from good maintenance and an understanding of the V8 weakness at 4 and 4.6 with such a heavy vehicle. Now I just have to work out why mine has started to not...

    1 year of p38 ownership

    Well I too have just embarked on p38 delights, a 4.6HSE on LPG in a lovely shade of blue. It has had a new engine (one owner ago). It's great to drive but part of me still misses my 200TDi classic! Needless to say I am expecting a flurry of problems but I am sure there will be solutions!!??

    No 'kick down' in sport mode

    Have developed a strange problem - no kick down in sport mode - the red indicator light has also gone very dim. the dash is not showing a fault and the S or sport is indicated on the dash when it's selected. Any thoughts or ideas as to what may have occoured welcome.

    Hi I am still learning about the quirks of my P38 and as such I have had extensive discussions on this with rpi in Norfolk. They tell me that it is a casting problem with the block leading to fractures behind the liner that lets in water to the oil under load/high temperature. the waterway...

    P38 Range Rover Needs Engine Advice Please

    Colin Check out RPI's web site or give them a call - they are very helpful bunch. Liners it seems are not the answer, new block seems to be the solution. the 4.0 and 4.6 have poor castings that let them down
