    Freelander 1 Flip Key Conversion

Is that a genuine casing or pre threats for using the logo? Shaft from a bendy key and pcb from a two button remote fitted to the new case? Range seems pretty poor to begin with, just how much closer do you need to be?

    Freelander 1 Flip Key Conversion

I've seen a few threads where folk were buying these from Ebay, but none to say they'd completed the switch over. Are they any good, has anybody genuine experience of them? Are there alternatives? This is what I'm talking about...

Freelander 1 Winter Tyres 205x55x16 will they fit?

They will probably physically fit, but whether they offer any benefits is doubtful. They are narrower and smaller in circumference than your standard tyre. Google 'visual tyre calculator' to see just how much smaller they are. This will all affect speedo readings amongst other things, so you...

    Rims & Tyres for TD4

Disco 2 wheels have the wrong stud pattern, but Jeep Wheels will fit. I was referring to the 235 70 16 tyre size being as used on Disco 2s, so loads available part worn.

    please help...

Could just be the expansion tank cap, may be any number of other things! Thermostat, blocked radiator, leak elsewhere leaving you short of coolant, the list goes on. Have a search around, but don't assume it's the head gasket straight away...

    Freelander 1 Hgf?

Not had a chance to get back to it this week - maybe tomorrow... Haven’t had anything apart that would change timings and had the cam locking tool in place before I decided to try the compressions. Had a bit of shoogling to do to get that back out, but wouldn't have thought it'd knocked the...

    Freelander 1 Hgf?

Just picked up a second Freelander 1.8 86k miles for peanuts, was losing coolant although loads of paperwork going back years showing proper servicing and hg replaced a couple of years ago. Inlet manifold gasket & squealing waterproof were suspects. Did the gasket, put in a new thermostat, moved...

    Rims & Tyres for TD4

Looking to buy wheels or recommendations on sizes? 16" rims give plenty of tyre choice, mine's running 235/70x16s (Disco2 and Cherokee size - plenty about), plenty of room without a lift kit. Look out for one of the epic tyre threads... Just watch out that the wheels come from a Freelander...

As per the title, looking for a set of caps for 15" steel wheels please.

I know the original post was a while ago, but wonder if you have hub cap/nut covers for the steel wheels?

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

I reckoned on it needing to go further in, but am struggling to get any real purchase on the joint with the shaft being at such a steep angle. Don't know if maybe the lift kit is adding to this. Think I'll rope in an extra pair of hands to help keep things aligned as I try to push harder. Not...

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

Finally getting round to doing this, all apart and old shaft off, but the angle between the shaft itself and inner joint looks crazy when I try to get it into the ird. I'm not sure it's fully seated that end. I'll persevere, but any tips appreciated. It's the lack of room to waggle things about...

What have you done to your Freelander today

I think I do - certainly in a more chunky off-road type of way. Where do you get them?

new to Freelanders and trying to change a few minds about them.

Looking good, I may just give those a try rather than attempt to polish out the scratches! Got a link? Been through the first 20 pages of 'Camouflage sticker'...

Refurbish rims, anyone got any experience?

As always, it's the preparation that makes the most difference to the finish. You need to sand as smooth as possible with finer and finer grade paper to get rid of the pitted surface where the alloy has corroded. You can even use filler on bigger scrapes. Etch primer to bond properly to the...

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

Fantastic, just what I was suspecting - although good to know I should do the hub end first. What oil does the IRD use and how much of it? I guess I might as well replace that now while I'm under there.

    Front Driveshaft Replacement

It's cold and I'm going to be on my own in the carpark at work, but I need to get the front right hand driveshaft swapped over on my Freelander. Quickest and easiest is the way ahead! I've got the hub nut loosened and assume the next step is to loosen from the IRD end, but can I get away...
