Try dabbing the jionts on the mechanism with a light oil such as 3 in 1. Did it for me as had same message and it was the cassette mech that was stuck. Bazz.

Hi there are several DIFFERANT types for the P38, both petrol and diesel. The petrol ones are not suitable for the diesel and visa-versa, because the valve block is set up differantly, as it changes gear at differant engine and road speeds.

LRO did an article on the Simtec conversion from V8 auto to V6 diesel with the same auto box. It was a lot better on fuel and power. The D3 and RR sport are a lot heavier than the p38 and it was returning about 30+ mpg. Had i known about this 18months ago then i would proberbly done this same...

Dont forget to swap the oil pick up pipe in the sump. Also it may pay to swap all the cencors from rr to replacement engine.Do them one at a time then you dont get them mixed up. Bazz Good luck.

Hi Travis have you found anything yet? If you do a preesure test again make sure the head is warm/ hot then it should show up. We did the same but didnt show anything except the bubbles out of the expansion tank. We even bypassed the main rad and the heater just to see were this pressure was...

Hi Lowfat, as with Travis's motor i think you'll find that fresh air does,nt change the colour of the dye. But will still blow bubbles out of the expansion tank. The problems come when you try to find where the hell its coming from. I changed the head and it seemed to cure it for me. Bazz.

Agree with Datatec on this my original head from the rr was hot pressure tested all day and still caused problems. The replacement was from a BMW 525 with about 150k on it. We just fitted it after skimming and p/testing and it did cure the problem. so as said removed this and had it refurbished...

Be very carefull when refitting box to engine, box pump drives have been known to break. Also be aware of torque converter has oil inside, just take your time and be clean and methodical.
