Oil Loss. Will it be ok ??

I've no personal experience, but I had a friend over your way who used them a couple of years ago, and he was happy. Good luck, its all a learning curve.

    What's this pipe?

++1. Looks like an axle breather, I think it hooks up in the engine compartment.

some newby questions and some MOT advice

I'd replace both rear shocks with the best you can afford. As for the rot, I've seen far worse on my last D1. A bit of angle steel, some plate, some welding and some imagination should see all that sorted. And for £35, I'd defo replace the whole rear arch. Enjoy

98' Discovery 1 advisory help needed.

They are all easy enough to do, and as my learned friend says, Paddocks or similar will have the bits you need. Get yourself the Haynes manual, as it will come in useful. If you are near Leicester, I'd be happy to pop over and have a look. AND YES, GET A FRIEND WITH A WELDER, AND LEARN HOW TO DO...

    Original Price

If it's as nice as this'un, I'd keep it. It was listed at £2k, but we had a bit of a haggle, as I had the magic CASH.

    Disco 300tdi coolant loss

While you're looking, it might be worth checking the P gasket for a coolant leak. Could be the reason that the HG went in the first place. BTW, where in Leics are you? I'm in Higham on the Hill, near Hinckley.

    Oil leak advice please

Sounds as though the wheel/hub bearings are on their way out. Remove the circlips, undo the five 17mm bolts, and remove the drive flange. Make sure you have some newspaper or similar on the floor to soak up the oil that will no doubt come out, then remove the hub nuts, lock washer et al, check...

Silly question, maybe, but does it only fit one way? When I did mine, just a standard M14 like Mr Wolf.

rear axle leak near disc and backing plate osr

I'd drop the wheel off, then check all the bearings and seals. Probably need some TLC

    CD autochanger

Ladies and Gents, I've just replaced my last D1 with a 1998 ES. Its a nice truck with all the electric stuff and SILLS STILL MADE OUT OF METAL, NOT RUST! She has a CD autochanger, but not instruction book. I've tried playing with it, but no joy. Any advice? TA.
