im gonna be fitting a v8 to my s2 ambulance but i dont have a gearbox what box would be best the lt77 or the r380 ? please help

im looking at it as your takin the risk trying it for the first time so if i see another i know it will work or not

grrrrr dont remind me how good that box is i wanted it next time im putting a warning on here so nobody bids against me

why take it out again ?? just get underneath and slid in the intermedeat gear and transfer sump pan and your done that box is to big and heavy to keep lifting it in and out

i would wait till the shaft is in and the box is full of oil before i worry to much about it

if you cant get it to fit then it aint much good to me lol its cool i probally couldnt afford it properly anyway

i wouldnt go down the cheap bearing route but if you have the bearing sizes (stamped in the bearing) then try and get some from a bearing stokest that way they are good quality bearing but not the high price

just a quick question im being offerd a s3 gearbox out of a 6cyl vehicle i want to put it in my ambulance but that has the j19 4cyl engine now i know the bell housing is diffrent and thats not a proplem as i have the old box with the correct bell housing all i need to know is the gearbox...

if aircraft blue is the same as the raf used then its more like grey my raf ambulance was that color not nice now its just a patch work quilt of grey and blue and black with a little yellow lol

if its the origanel wiring loom you have refitted i would take it out and start a fresh 40 + year old wires arnt gonna be in good condition you only need a few wires for the engine as long as its a carb unit not injection and the lights are fairlly straight forward to sit down with a big...

i could be perswaded t part with mine 1969 s2a raf ambulance its been striped inside so is just a shell and i never had any of the bits that go inside the gearbox blow earlyer this year so has been removed and striped can be rebuilt but easyer to just get another s3 box from ebay only...

silver roof is gonna look BAD only bit of silver on a landy is the trim around the top of the tub, tilt frame and screen all very slim parts so not to much think of the reflection off those corner curves blinding people no not a good idea i go with painting it the same color as the rest...
