I'd check the gearbox output shaft for wear, if you have the old non drilled input gear in your LT230 it wears the splines of the gear box output shaft and gives a big old clunk when it takes up slack when you put in reverse. It's quite easy to check as there is a plate on the back of the lt230...

The special prop socket is a thin walled one. Is there any chance you could grab the shagged nuts with mole/vice grips and turn the bolt from the back with a 9/16 spanner? (The bolts do turn despite it looking like there is a ridge to stop it) A few degrees of backlash on the diff is actually...

BTW you can get a special prop shaft socket as it is too tight to get a normal one on, however with the state of your UJ you may actually be able to get a normal socket on. Also the nuts are not metric they are actually 9/16th imperial.

A special tool is simple enough to make, mine is just a scrap of angle iron with two holes drilled in it and a bit ground out so you can get your socket in, not as fancy as busters but works great. The same tool will work on the front and back diff as well, if you have a Salisbury rear axle...

Check that is definitely leaking from that seal first (assuming there is oil still in the transfer box), it does look like it though from your pic though. Once you have your front prop removed to replace the UJ's there is only one nut left to remove, albeit a big one. Once that's off just...

Sounds like I bought my 110 off the same guy as you Mundungus. Enjoy :-) BTW is your transfer box front output seal knackered? The box looks a bit wet.

The clunk can also be the gearbox output shaft as well, mine had a massive clunk which turned out to be half shafts, drive members and the gear box output shaft, all added up to a noise that would scare the crap out of you. Can't help you with the squeak though....

Did you glue the pipe? or replace the entire rigid pipe? Just curious as I guess it gets quite warm and also oily with the amount of leaks the average tdi has ;-)

Looks like its ERR4699 ....

That's the pressure pipe from the turbo that increases the fueling when the turbo is blowing, it runs around the back of the engine and you should see it connected to the output of the turbo. I'm guessing the power on your 300tdi is a tad lacking at the moment as it is most likely fuel starved...
