    Gearbox Overheat Warning

Is that something I can sort with my nanocom? I'm in a pretty alarmed state myself!!

    Gearbox Overheat Warning

Just went to use the RR to nip to the shops and greeted with "Gearbox Overheat" message. The engine appears to be disabled as it won't start, won't even turnover. It's not a flat battery or anything as the lights don't dim when you try to start the car. It's a 1998 DSE manual. Tried to see...

    Overheating Diesel

It's just passed 120,000 miles so the pump did quite well.

    Overheating Diesel

Driving home from work on Monday the DSE went from normal to overheating almost immediately. Stopped and let it cool down then drove home in half mile jumps. Luckily I only had a couple of miles to go. I was pretty sure it was the water pump as the overheating was so rapid. The benefit of doing...

    P38 Rear Washer Wont Work

Had the same problems on my DSE. Turned out to be the two little non-return valves. Both of them were gummed up with black goo!! Bought some off eBay, they are pretty universal and hey presto! working washers. Been through the pain of looking at the pumps and getting very wet in the process but...

To buy or bot to buy..P38 is the question!

I've had my 2.5 DSE for best part of a year now. Biggest benefit for me, by far, over the classic RR and Discovery's (I've had several over the years) is not having to dig out the MiG welder every few months to weld in new floor panels/sills/inner wings. The mechanics on a P38 are pretty simple...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Fixed the drivers side heated front seat. Two breaks in the wires across the middle of the seat base where they have to go under the hog ring wire. Typical failure. Soldered in some more robust wire and replaced the thermostat. Now warms up really well, just in time for winter!! Then fitted...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Fixed the passenger side heated front seat. Not that hard to do just a bit time consuming. The thermostat was broke on mine all the wiring was fine. Works a treat now. Wished I'd done the drivers side now but wanted to make sure I could get somewhere if it all went "Pete Tong" and I needed some...

Manual box oil? Sorry to ask

When I first got my diesel manual the gearbox was really notchy and changing down to second was a bit of a struggle. Drained it and refilled with MTF94 and it was like having a different box, much smoother and easier changes. Went through the same dilemma of MTF vs Dexron. GSF car parts sell...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Passed my first MOT with the P38. Flew through no advisories. Such a pleasure after years of pre-MoT welding with Classic RRs and Discoveries. Well pleased.:D

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Spent several happy hours with off-roading in forestry land in Exmoor. Nothing too extreme but some steep climbs and heavily rutted tracks with a few small patches of mud. Never missed a beat all day.

    "Best" way to spend £10k

I remember the classic being the height of style and luxury before all the pretenders to the RR throne appeared so always had a soft spot for them but having spent many hours welding them back together my P38 diesel has been and continues to be a breath of fresh air. For me the the L322 is good...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Good point, just checked with my Nanocom. Front Right height sensor out of range, reset the height and now working fine, no faults recorded. Quick check of everything else and all clear.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just got back from a weeks holiday with the family towing a folding camper (big old American thing vintage 1980) with my 1998 DSE manual. 700 miles round trip Plymouth to Bristol, London, Bath and back to Plymouth averaged 24.9mpg which I think is pretty good. Had one mad moment when an EAS...

Viscous Fan Pully help in Guildford area

Mine was really tight and managed to undo it be jamming a rag behind the belt on one of the pulleys so that it stops the belt slipping. Worked a treat for me.
