    Yesterday I found a local Land Rover parts dealer selling series2,2a,3 chassis as a generic one chassis fits all.

    It sounds like lots of work to get it to fit and keep the series 2 fitments,I think I will have to get mine repaired, I have 2 to chose from so its a case of strip them both down and see which can be saved, but thanks for the info and good luck with your rebuild

    Same old problem my series 2 bulkhead is held together by spiders webs and paint, I have read that Simmonites do a Defender bulkhead that with "a little alteration " will fit a series, has anybody done one of these, is it a royal pain or fairly straight forward, or is it still better to rebuild...

    So what you are saying is yes you can build a series 2 on a series 3 chassis without many problems but it will probably mean that the vehicle will not be tax exempt, great if its for off road use only but not the cheap option if you want a valid free tax disc,

    Thanks for the comments I dont know the asking price of the series 3 chassis yet but it sounds as if its not the right thing to do . ok will save the pennies and get the proper series 2 kit ,I know its only £750ish its just a shame you have to pay VAT on it

    Can anybody tell me of any problems in using a swb series 3 chassis to rebuild a swb series 2, as in engine or gearbox mounts fitting of the series 2 bulkhead, suspension mounts or routing of the exhaust system, I have been offered a series 3 galv chassis but dont want to have to cut lumps out...

    Hi All

    Hi all another new name on the forum, have just aquired a series 2 from a mate on the understanding that I rebuild it, I have played with lots of cars in the past but never a landy so this could be interesting, I am sure I will have a great deal of fun rebuilding and driving it. Bye for now
