Transfer box oil - Dexron11D or Dexron 111

EP 90 for the final drive units in P38 I have read that one can go "higher" with the numbers but not lower. Dexron 111 instead of Dexron 11 but not the other way round. Am interested to know if anyone has "changed up " and any issues that resulted

Hi all, I want to drain/refill the transfer box- ( 1998 P38 4.6 Auto ) Local supplier only has ATF Dexron 11 not ATF Dexron 11D as recommended in my manual. Any one know the difference ? A search mentions Dexron 11 being replaced by Dexron 111 about 1995 - I have plenty of ATF Dexron 111...

A front diff query and an EAS one

datatek, If the airbag was not seated right on the bottom piston or had a "pinhole" leak surely it would still hiss out air even when engine is off seeing as how there is still plenty of pressure in the bag ? It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it takes a few minutes for height...

A front diff query and an EAS one

Thanks so far - with a worn diff nose bearing and front prop taken off will the car still be driveable for a few miles a day ? I bought litre of diff fluid thinking diff must have lost a fair bit - only took 300 ml - out of diff capacity of 1700 ml . That nose bearing must be really sensitive...

Please help to diagnose my "transmission" noise

Thanks wammers What gaskets/seals would I be looking for to fix the leak from the front diff - I mean the "technical descriptions " ? How many differential "nose " bearings are there and is that their description as well ? They might need changing. My local independent should be able to...

Please help to diagnose my "transmission" noise

Looks like a leak from front diff is the culprit - will have to sort out asap. When one front wheel is lifted clear of the ground how easily should it turn by hand ( assuming autobox in " N " and handbrake on ) ? Thanks

Thanks for the interest so far rewmer - tyres are pumped up ok and no signs of bulging - I had an estate car once that had a weak spot on a section of tread on front tyre - though that manifested itself with steering wheel wobble - no wobble in this case. What should I be looking for...

Hi folks, The drivers head restraint in my car is at the lowest position - pressing the "up" control has no effect - neither does cycling through up and down. I can hear a whirring sound though - so electric motor must be OK. What could have happened and can anyone advise how to restore...
