    fuel pump

Hey up... I've just picked up a new whining noise on my motor but that was a result of too much water this afternoon at Parkwood 4x4 (Tong). Oops! Anyway, take a look at this thread as I had problems with mine when I got it and it ended up being the air flow meter. The garage had replaced the...

Serious one now guys, I found this pic of a Freelander which has been 'Pimped' and someone's done a lovely job...

    "If it's green, it's deep..."

...a little too deep for paddling with no snorkel! Did it still work?

    "If it's green, it's deep..."

Yeah, not sure why but the lights do that sometimes and then they stop working...

    "If it's green, it's deep..."

Isn't that what the doors are for?

    "If it's green, it's deep..."

I very nearly drove out of it actually, but the front wheels couldn't get traction. Didn't fancy pushing my luck and driving through, not in a TD5 (my ECU already gets regular baths) Need to find the leak on the snorkle though - the water in the air filter box wasn't a good sign! I...

    "If it's green, it's deep..."

That was the advice I received from my mate at Kirton on Sunday, before ignoring him and finding out for myself!

    Shrieking...

discocuzzy, you were spot-on... There are two bolts missing and sooty stuff around there... I took it down to my local Land Rover guy and said "It's making a right noise, see if you can guess what it is..." to which he replied "Manifold bolts" before I even fired it up! Just out of interest...

    Shrieking...

Tuned? High speeds? That sounds familiar... I'll take a look around there and see if I can see anything. The fan felt still looks to have been rubbing, though that could be purely coincidental. Cheers discocuzzy

    Shrieking...

TD5 (on a 52 plate) Yes, but only when revving Yes, doesn't affect it ...will check that one shortly!

    Shrieking...

Yeah, it does... There's also a slight flapping sound too, so I'm going to take a guess that that's something to do with it.

    Shrieking...

I think it's something to do with that, but I reckon it's catching on something which is why it's making so much noise. I always get the 'wet squeel' too but that doesn't hang around for long.

    Shrieking...

It's that time again after a cracking weekend of Land Rover abuse at Tong, I've picked up a new noise on the Defender... This time it's a crazy shrieking sound when you put your foot down even slightly. It does it more when it's in gear, but still makes a right noise before then. It's had a...

    Snorkle Top

Can't you do what Jeremy Clarkson did with the Toyota when they (allegedly) sailed across the English Channel on Top Gear (watch this)? Just fill it up under the bonnet with expanding foam - although I remember he had a few overheating issue...

    waxoyl

The problem with waxoyl is that it covers up the rust, and it's still there. People often waxoyl them before selling them to cover up the bad bits. I'm no rust expert, but if you just cover the rust up it's still going to be there, eating away at your beloved... When I bough my 90 it hadn't...
