    2005 td4 wont start

If you can hear it priming it's probably OK, could be worth checking the HP pump. Did you have hot start problems before it just stopped starting at all? Injectors have been known to prevent the diesel from starting, search 'leak back test' in this forum for a diagnostic method that's cheap...

Looking for an obsolete part for M reg disco.... HELP!!!!

Are the pipes the sediment trap connects to metal, or rubber? If they are metal what is the outside diameter? If it's metal and the same OD as microbore heating pipe, or brake pipe, then you could just by pass the sediment trap with an alternate and job done :) If they are rubber then...

    wont start when hot

I dunno for sure, but, considering the huge pressures involved in diesel injecction systems and the compressibility of gas (vapour) I'd be very surprised if they did. If I'm wrong someone will soon correct me :)

    TD4 Fitting cruise control

Your mate might be right, my knowledge of this is from Rover 75s and with them if the loom isn't present it's not economical to try and install cruise control. Part of the requirement for the loom is to have the driver improvement pack, it might be that this results in the ECU being programmed...

    Most welcome :)

    wont start when hot

Give it a good blast in situ, I did when mine was on the way out (M47R in a Rover 75) and it started, cheaper to keep a can of feeze spray than a sensor too ;) Don't forget the leak back test, hot diesel is thinner than cold diesel and more likely to lose pressure past the injector seals :)

    That was a relief....

Aye, and before me :o I'd forgotten she'd put the new mats in is my only defence, they are the heavy duty rubber ones. At least the mat didn't stop the brake pedal from moving

    That was a relief....

The wife told me the Freebie had lost all power, it was apparently struggling to get up a couple of hills on her way home from uni :( I asked the usual questions; any odd noises, how's the fuel consumption, are there any warning lights, etc? All I got were blank looks and the reply "why would...

    help gang

Hello and welcome. Do say hi in the introduce yourself section, then run a search, unless the lack of power at 70 mph thread has answered your question. I've been here a few months, since the wife bought a Freebie, and it's an invaluable resource, saved us literally hundreds of pounds in...

    wont start when hot

As OP said, it could be injectors, search for "leak back test" and you'll get the advice you need for that. As to testing the cam shaft sensor, get a can of freeze spray and when it's hot and wont start, spray the sensor, if t starts after that then you need a new sensor, Rimmer Bros sell...

    Whats it worth

Does it have a full service history, any parts changed recently (like the VCU)? Based on the prices I saw when the wife was looking for hers it's got to be worth arround £5k, service history will sell it faster, as will information about the state of the tyres etc :)

    Insurance for 17 year old

That ^^ was my point, I think the cinquecento thing was a 1.0 engine. I have to say I find the insurance costs for a new driver to be rather horrible, when I was 17 (30 years ago) I was paying less than a week's wages to insure a Triumph Toledo (1.3 litre, not sporty, over 10 years old and...

    Insurance for 17 year old

Sounds horrible, but, my best mate's lad had to pay about £1.6k for his first policy on a FIAT Cincquecento (sp?) As he's written off two cars since I dread to think what is policy is now, maybe he should have got a Series, at least that would have been harder to write off :)

    TD4 Fitting cruise control

If you hooked everything up right, it should work OK straight out the box, if the parts are OK.. This thread is from an R75 forum, but it's one of many along the same lines, as long as the ECU loom is there to plug into the rest is as easy as you say it was...

    TD4 Fitting cruise control

PS, the Rover bods get the same deal from the stealers, but with very few exceptions the retro fits do the same as the factory insalled versions, the few differences (and there are some on the 75) are easy to ignore.

    TD4 Fitting cruise control

Well done, and that is one heck of a good price for the CC ECU, they usually fetch a lot more :) The Freebie diesel CC parts are common to the Rover 75 diesel and the Rover bods have been retro fitting the CC for a few years :) I've got a manual 75 diesel (the wife has a Freebie, hence me...

    FBH still firing

Pull the plug from the FBH, I think you can see it from under the front driver's side wing. Search for FBH and plug in this forum as I know it's been covered recently with very good description of where the plug is, sadly I've had beer since so don't remember the precise details. The fault...

Freelander 1 Managment light comes on when towing

Coolant first, then wait for some one one of the old hands to show up and tell you what else has caused the same problems. I assume you have run a search ;)

    New member,advice

Hi, welcome to the zone :) Tyre makes, wear levels and pressures are critical on a Freelander, unless you want very expensive repair bills :( Pop over to the freelander specific forum and search for VCU, IRD, Diff Mounts and you'll start to get the idea. Once you start to search...
