    The damper is part of the pulley, if gone you will need to change the unit. When I did my cambelt I removed the starter and jammed the ring gear with a big screwdriver and tightened the bolt as much as I could without giving myself a hernia, it's held like that for the last 40,000 miles. Lee

    Good luck, I changed 1 a few months ago without lifting gear, I left the crossmember in place and it supported the box, then with a trolley jack lifted the box back into place. Lee

    Been running mine like that for approx 2 yrs now, about half a litre went in mine, cured all the leaks and I've driven it all over the world like it, even changed the pump and obviously all the fluid in Malaysia recently and still no leaks. Lee
