Looking to spend 7k next month

If it was me, i would get a good solid clean defender, not be sold by the extra bits. You can add these later, and i would personally say part of the fun and experience. You could get exactly what equipment you need for the environment you will be in. What I havent looked at prices recently...

Found a leak in my coolant pipe. A small question?

no i think you miss understood, its just the soft pipe which connects the the outer heater box at the very top. I was just wandering if i need to do anything special to get rid of air locks etc after i have disconnected the pipe.

Found a leak in my coolant pipe. A small question?

Today after inspecting my coolant pipes, after a slight loss of coolant over time, i found about a 1/4" break in either the in/out pipe for the heater unit (the one at the top of the engine bay on the passanger side. The damaged pipe was the one nearest to the bulk head.) It was damaged where...

    TD5 Service

i think the minor doesnt cover running gear, just a check of levels rather than oil chasnges. If you search the web, you will be able to find a service shedule for a defender TD5 which tells you exactly what a garage will check and change etc. YOu will find that very useful, and a Haynes...

    experiences with bluetooth head unit?

yeah thats what im thinking. I have searched but no real reviews with use in a defender. I have heard good things about the parrot hands free kits, and it seems that alot of the Alpine head units have their hands free module in so they might be a good one to go to.

    gearbox noises!

well if you cant take the gb out yourself, you will be looking at £100s? you could change the oil, look at the magnet to see how much metal is there? does it drive ok? vibrate, jump out of gear, not go into gear. How loud is the knock?

    old disco low mileage!!!

There are many things that could go wrong as with any car, but generally compared to other manufacturers, some parts are cheap. You need to look for the usual stuff when buying a car. A drive should help you alot. Also get underneat it. Does it have ACE? If so check the conditions of the Pipes...

    B + E Trailer Test

yeah i would like to do mine, my company wont pay for mine though. It really annoys me to see a heavily loaded car towing a trailer, probably just within the law, when if i get caught with a decent serviced trailer with a few 100 kgs over with a car which can pull 4 tonnes, i could get done. I...

    B + E Trailer Test

Yeah but a 90 is about 2 tonnes, a decent trailer will be 1 tonne +, meaning 500Kg for load. Our twin axel Ifor Is 1350Kg empy, leaving 150Kg for load, Not ideal for me, but if your towing a little pidly trailer which you might fit your lunch in, you wont need the B + E

    Range rover or Disco 3

if your going up or down mountain roads in an auto, the MPG wont be great. I know some of the motorways can be hilly also in parts of switzerland, so this wont help your MPG average if this is a concern.

    B + E Trailer Test

i feel the same, but i get the impression its a massive money making scam!! I know i can tow a trailer properly, a lot better than most people on the road anyhow. Not happy about paying £500 to get a little logo on my licence!!

You will probably need to plug it in at a dealer or specialist to read which codes/errors come up.
